«Breaking News» Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin's grudge rematch must decide true middleweight king

Almost a year on and there is still a bad taste in the mouth.

Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez's first encounter was supposed to be a true legacy contest, but come the end of it we were all left scratching our heads.

On September 15 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, these two modern-day Goliaths will go to war again for the unified middleweight championship with serious intentions of erasing the travesty of what went before. This time they promise answers will be delivered.

And whether it be through dreary eyes or live in action, the world of boxing will be watching with pure fascination.

Their names alone are enough to catch the attention and it is already on paper perhaps the biggest fight out there, but this isn't just about securing middleweight supremacy and a piece of boxing history, it's personal now too.

Golovkin has been vexing ever since suffering the misdeed in Sin City last September, when those three judges failed to split the two over 12 rounds and that card from Adalaide Byrd was returned, but that is not the full story.

Although most observers would accept the Kazakh knockout merchant should have had his hand raised at the final bell, it was really only the prelude to a fiery rivalry.

Fast forward 12 months and the friction between Golovkin and Canelo is now boiling over the edge. The Mexican sensation's two positive drug tests for the banned substance clenbuterol earlier this year - which he claimed was due to contaminated meat - has stoked the fire.

It meant their rematch - initially scheduled for May 5 - had to be postponed, which angered Golovkin greatly. The middleweight champion is now trying to channel that emotion and use it as fuel with intentions of making Canelo pay for delaying the fight and tarnishing the sport's image.

'I don't feel respect for this team, not only Canelo,' he said after an open workout session last week.

'This is very terrible for him. His team, his promotion doesn't respect boxing people. It's 100 percent different this time, different mentally, a different performance. A lot of emotion. This is not only boxing fight, not only business fight, this is a true war.'

Insults have regularly been exchanged in the build-up to this super-fight and now the feeling is very much a mutual one.

'It's definitely more personal now,' Canelo said recently. 'I really don't like him [Golovkin]. It's personal, and I take it that way.

'The cordiality that we had, not in the ring but outside of it, has ended because of many things. Because of the many times they opened their mouth.

'It will make me train harder and give me the extra push to knock him out on September 15.'

The genuine bad blood between the pair is likely to only add to the spectacle. You sense that maybe another 12 rounds of trading brutal shots is what's needed to settle this feud once and for all, but it can't have the ending of last time.

They need closure as much as we do. Forget the unified middleweight title, the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, belts, pride, status just for a second, this time it is about redemption and justice.

The best man on the night must be crowned. This time there can be no erring on the side of caution. This time we need to get what we should have had the first time around: A winner.

This time the two must be separated and the true middleweight king must be crowned

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
