«Breaking News» British rugby player, 16, is found dead in a French lake during team trip

The body of a British rugby player has been recovered from a lake in southern France, has been named as Harry Sykes, 16.

Mr Sykes, who was travelling with the Halifax Elite Academy, disappeared from the party on Wednesday evening near Cavayere Lake, near the town of Carcassonne.

Hours before the incident Mr Sykes was pictured with his teammates posing beside the lake in a series of team shots, including boating on the lake and playing a game of football.

'An alert was put out to emergency services and there was an extensive search of the water involving divers,' said a local council official.

'It was just before 11pm on Wednesday that night divers found the body of the missing person after two hours in the water.'

The source said Mr Sykes had arrived in France on Monday, and had taken part in a game on Tuesday against Lezignan-Corbieres.

A death certificate was issued soon after Wednesday's tragedy, with French officials saying a 'medical-legal examination' would establish the cause.

'It will also try and establish the exact circumstances in which the person died,' the same source added. 'An autopsy was held on Thursday, and results will be made available in due course.'

Examining magistrates and judicial police are involved in the enquiry, the source said.

Two Halifax teams – cadets and Under 23s – were scheduled to play matches on Thursday, but these games have now been cancelled.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
