President Donald Trump has said that Democrats misunderstand his plans for a 'beautiful' and 'artistically designed' southern border wall.
'The Democrats, are saying loud and clear that they do not want to build a Concrete Wall - but we are not building a Concrete Wall, we are building artistically designed steel slats, so that you can easily see through it,' Trump tweeted on Tuesday night.
'It will be beautiful and, at the same time, give our Country the security that our citizens deserve. It will go up fast and save us BILLIONS of dollars a month once completed!' he continued.
It came as a looming budget impasse over Trump's demands for $5 billion in border wall funding appeared to dissipate somewhat, with the White House signaling that the President might accept substantially less.

If the standoff is not resolved, parts of the government will shut down at midnight on Friday.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders indicated on Tuesday that Trump doesn't want to shut down the government, though just last week he said he'd be "proud" to over the issue of border security.
One option circulating on Capitol Hill would be to approve government funding at existing levels and kick the issue into the next Congress.
It was a turnaround after days of impasse. Without a resolution, more than 800,000 government workers could be furloughed or sent to work without pay beginning at midnight Friday, disrupting government operations days before Christmas.

With Trump appearing to soften on his demand for wall funding, conservatives were outraged to learn of a deal announced earlier on Tuesday, which will send $5.8 billion in aid and investment for strengthening government and economic development in Central America, and another $4.8 billion in development aid for southern Mexico.
The U.S aid aims to promote better security conditions and job opportunities as part of a regional plan to allow Central Americans and Mexicans to remain in their countries and not have to emigrate.
The stark contrast drew outrage from conservatives, who questioned why the U.S. should be increasing aid to its southern neighbors while the Trump administration struggles to wring border security funding out of Congress.
'Well there you go. No $5B for southern wall but $10.6B to others. How angry are you?' conservative radio host Wayne Dupree wrote on Twitter.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
