«Breaking News» 'They want to be sacked': Bale mystified by Goal of the Season snub

Gareth Bale admits he is confused as to why his stunning overhead kick in the Champions League final was not even shortlisted for UEFA's Goal of the Season.

The Real Madrid forward scored the brilliant strike in the 3-1 final win over Liverpool in Kiev to help hand the Spanish giants a third successive Champions League title.

Despite the quality and importance of the goal, UEFA did not even judge it good enough for the 11-strike shortlist.

Speaking exclusively to Sportsmail, Bale said: 'I don't know how it wasn't on that list! I want to know who is on the panel because they want to be sacked.'

Bale's acrobatic effort was discounted because only one nominee from each of the main UEFA competitions was allowed in the shortlist.

Instead his former team mate, Cristiano Ronaldo, made the list for a brilliant Champions League overhead kick of his own - against Juventus in the quarter-finals.

Asked whether he thought Ronaldo's goal was better, Bale was diplomatic: 'It's not for me to say!'

Ronaldo went on to win the vote for goal of the season, defeating Marseille's Dmitri Payet and Spain under-17 star Eva Navarro.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
