The homeless man charged with the first-degree murder of a Washington DC bride-to-be as she jogged two blocks from her home, may have been motivated to kill her because of her race.
Anthony Crawford, 23, was arrested after the stabbing of Wendy Martinez, 35, on Wednesday and a report states the slaying may have happened because the attacker didn't like white people.
'Investigators looking into possibility murder of jogger Wendy Martinez might have been “racially motivated.” Suspect Anthony Crawford “does not like white people.” Also has history of mental illness and K2 addiction.' wusa9.com reporter Bruce Leshan tweeted Friday.

Martinez was stabbed seven times by a local vagrant Tuesday night according to court papers.
Police arrested Crawford, a black male, on Wednesday evening after speaking to multiple witnesses and acquaintances of the man.
One individual who told officers that the suspect in the case was often high on K2, a synthetic marijuana that has been known to put people in a zombie-like state and is banned in the United States.
These details are coming out as the family of Martinez prepares for her funeral.
On Thursday a vigil was held for the victim and mother broke her silence about the tragedy while also revealing that her daughter would be buried in her wedding gown.
She had been out for a run when the attack occurred, and was pronounced dead at 8.23pm just 27 minutes after being stabbed by the man.
Altered reality: Suspect Anthony Crawford, 23, was 'probably' high on synthetic drug K2 when he allegedly murdered Martinez said a friend in a newly filed court document (suspect now believed to be Crawford seen in surveillance video above just before attack)
Final rest: Martinez had just gotten engaged a week before the attack, and her mother (above on Thursday speaking for the first time) said that she would be buried in her wedding gown
Details of the fatal attack are being revealed in a police report that was filed in the case by the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia and obtained by DailyMail.com, including the chief medical examiner's findings on the brief but fatal attack.
An autopsy found that Martinez had been stabbed on the 'left side' and 'back' of her head, the 'right side of the face,' 'the lower right neck,' twice on the 'left side of the neck,' and once in the 'back.'
It was the higher wound on the left side of her neck that resulted in the victim bleeding out so quickly due the fact that the knife struck her jugular vein.
Individuals on the scene tried their best to stop the blood flow as the suspect fled the scene, dropping the murder weapon and stripping off her mustard yellow sweater and socks along the way.

Once police arrived they secured the area and tried to revive Martinez, while also talking to eyewitnesses about the man responsible for the murder.
They learned that he was a heavyset man whose age could have been anywhere from a teen to in his 40s, an age range that was far too broad to help detectives.
That is when it was decided that video from a nearby camera would be released a move which led to police being contacted by one of the victim's acquaintances.
This decision paid off within hours, and on Wednesday morning a cop was approached by a man on the street who said he knew the suspect.
After first giving the wrong first name he identified the person as 'Anthony,' but noted that he always referred to him as 'Fatz Gleezy.'
That individual saw Crawford both before and after Martinez's death, and said that he had a bandage on his hand later in the night but not earlier that day.
Officers were also told by this person that Crawford was an 'avid user of the synthetic K2,' and the location of the park where he spent most of his time.
When the surveillance video of the suspect was played for the man he stated: 'Yea, that's him with the flip flops. Yes, that's him walking and he is probably high.'
Bereaved: Martinez's fiancee spoke for the first time as well on Thursday about his bride-to-be
They did: Cora Martinez, the victim's mother, said that her daughter's death came after the happiest days of her life (Martinez being proposed to a week prior to her death)
Martinez lost so much blood that she was dead just 27 minutes after the fatal attack
Shock: Martinez staggered into a Chinese takeout restaurant before collapsing to the floor (above)
Homicide detectives then located a relative and went to question them, with that person confirming that Crawford was the person seen in the video just moments before Marinez was stabbed on the street.
That evening, officers waited at the park where Crawford was often seen and took him to the station after he identified himself.
Crawford 'was yelling and crying' as he was taken in according to the police report, and had severe lacerations on his right hand, which is the same hand that the suspect used when he stabbed Martinez.
When brought in for questioning, Crawford had a heavily bandaged hand with fresh lacerations and told detectives that he was aware that they were accusing him of stabbing the 'little girl.'
Martinez is 12 years older than Crawford but stood only 5ft 1in tall and weighed 106 lbs according to police.
His identity was not released however until detectives had circles back to Crawford's acquaintance and shown him a photo of Crawford taken at the station the previous night.
'That's him, that's him,' said the man.
Crawford appeared in court for the first time on Thursday, and is due back on October 11, with detectives still unable to come up with any motive for the random attack.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
