«Breaking News» Plane overshoots a runway in Micronesia and crash lands in the ocean – but everyone onboard survives

A plane has crash-landed in the Pacific Ocean after overshooting a runway on the tiny island of Weno, north-west of Papua New Guinea.

Local authorities confirmed the airliner - which was en route to Papua New Guinea from Micronesia - missed the runway and crashed into the water around 9.30am Friday local time.

Miraculously, all 36 passengers and 11 crew members are alive.

The plane is now completely submerged and one passenger is injured.

The passenger plane missed the runway by more than 160 metres, but all on board are safe

The passenger plane was flying from Micronesia's Pohnpei to Chuuk Airport, where it was scheduled to make a stop before continuing on to Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.

Chuuk Airport manager Jimmy Emilio told local media outlets the Air Niugini plane cleared the runway by about 160metres.

Air Nuigini is Papua New Guinea’s national airline.  

Micronesia is a country spread across the western Pacific Ocean comprising more than 600 islands, located north of Papua New Guinea. 

Footage uploaded to Twitter shows small boats going to the wreckage to rescue passengers

It's currently unclear what caused the crash.

Papua New Guinea Accident Investigation Commission is currently preparing a team to investigate the site of the accident.  

Videos posted to social media show rescue boats attending the scene, helping passengers and crew get off the half-submerged wreckage to safety.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
