«Breaking News» McDonald’s US change the way its burgers are made but it won’t be coming to Australia any time soon

McDonald's USA announced on Thursday they'll be making some of their biggest burgers free of artificial preservatives, but Australia will not be following suit.

Menu classics affected by the change in the US include the Cheeseburger, the Quarter Pounder with Cheese and the Big Mac.

While McDonald's Australia is yet to make the same commitment, they said they're 'taking steps' and introducing a whole new wholemeal wrap.

What McDonald's US are changing: 

Burgers changed: The hamburger, cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, McDouble, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, double Quarter Pounder with Cheese and Big Mac

American Cheese: Removal of sorbic acid, an artificial preservative. 

Big Mac sauce: No more potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate and calcium disodium EDTA, The sauce now contains no fake flavours or colours.

Burger buns: The artificial preservative calcium propionate has been removed from the regular bun. 

*Pickles on the sandwiches still contain artificial preservatives, but customers can request sandwiches without pickles.   

'In Australia, we're taking steps to remove artificial colours, flavours and preservatives from our menu wherever possible.' a McDonald's spokesperson said.

'Our most recent focus has been introducing a number of Happy Meal items free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives, including a new wholemeal tortilla wrap for our grilled chicken snack wrap, Petit Miam strawberry yoghurt and our McNuggets.'

The recent US ingredient changes affect all 14,000 restaurants in the country, as the chain continues to target more health-conscious eaters.

'We understand that now more than ever, people care about their food – where it comes from, what goes into it and how it is prepared,' Linda VanGosen, McDonald's Vice President of Menu Innovation said in a statement.

'We are committed to make changes to our menu our guests feel good about.

McDonald's has been gradually removing preservatives from its menu for several years in an effort to appeal to more health-conscious buyers. 

The announcement comes after Australia followed suit with the US with the gradual phasing out of plastic straws and going cage-free in 2017, but have yet to make any comment on their plans to go preservative free. 

In 2016, McDonald's US removed high-fructose corn syrup from its buns and took artificial preservatives out of its Chicken McNuggets. 

The Chicago-based company says around one-third of its sandwiches still have artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, including Egg McMuffins and Filet-O-Fish.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
