«Breaking News» Matthew Wright 'feels' for CBB's Roxanne Pallett after punch scandal

Matthew Wright revealed he 'feels' for Celebrity Big Brother star Roxanne Pallett following her Ryan Thomas punch scandal.

The former Channel 5 host warned people to not become bullies themselves following her stint in the Borehamwood Bungalow and insisted he would have been 'firmer' with the former Emmerdale star had he interviewed her instead of Jeremy Vine.

Speaking on Friday's This Morning, Matthew, who left The Wright stuff after 18 years, said: 'No, I didn’t [watch it]. Don’t look back. Look forward.

'I might’ve been a little bit firmer with her, but I think Emma Willis did a really good interview on Celebrity Big Brother as well.'

Although admitting that what Roxanne did was 'vile and unfair', Matthew showcased his empathy to the actress and added that he believed the public were becoming 'bullies' in response.

He explained: 'It’s very interesting that the people that go out and say "You’re a bully" or "you’re cruel" they don’t realise that by the time they’ve run Roxanne through the ringer, they themselves have become bullies and cruel.’

'At the moment I feel very much for Ryan, I feel like Channel 5 and Big Brother hung him out to dry for a bit too long, but I also feel for Roxanne.

'Because even if she’s made mistakes and even if she’s done it before, nobody deserves [being beaten down].'

Matthew's comments come after viewers were left wondering why Jeremy Vine was so lenient towards Roxanne Pallett during her tell-all apology on Monday.

And the broadcaster has since confessed the real reason he adopted a sensitive approach towards the former Emmerdale actress, saying he was concerned she would 'take her life tomorrow'.

Roxanne has been at the centre of a media storm after branding her CBB co-star Ryan Thomas a 'woman beater' when he 'punched her' during a play fight, demanding her be removed from the Channel 5 show's house.

Discussing his Monday interview with the star, Jeremy explained: 'I’m sitting here thinking, "She could take her life tomorrow", and we’ve got all these people carrying pitchforks who probably want her to die, but it’s not pitchfork journalism. '

Aside from punch-gate, Matthew discussed his decision to sensationally quit his show The Wright Stuff after 18 years as its helm.

Jeremy Vine has since gone on to take over the TV presenter's role on the mid-morning show and has in turn been renamed Points of View on Channel 5.

At the time, Matthew admitted he was been left with 'no idea' what he's doing next, after quitting The Wright Stuff amid claims of a fall out with production bosses.

The presenter previously said part of his reasoning to leave was that he no longer wanted to live 'like passing ships' with wife of eight years Amelia and was tired of the 3am starts and 7pm bedtimes.

Matthew has been with his second wife Amelia, a Sony music executive, since 2007 and they have been married since 2010.

However Amelia doesn't seem to be the only reason for Matthew's Channel 5 departure, since a source close to the presenter told MailOnline earlier this year that he had had 'a bitter row' with new production team, ITN Productions.

A source said: 'Matthew had enough... he wanted out. When he refused to back down and issue an apology, the show bosses tried to force him to take a week off to reconsider. He told them he wasn't going to do that and tensions reached boiling point.'

The TV host is believed to have created tensions when he refused to publicly apologise for a remark made by a celebrity guest about a transgender campaigner being born a boy.

He was warned that unless he broadcast an apology on the next day's show, he would not be allowed on air. As a result, Matthew refused to front the show that week and viewers were simply told he was 'off sick'.

'Personally things were pretty stressed and strained. All my colleagues who I worked with for years, a lot of them were made redundant. Suddenly over night it stopped being fun anymore.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
