Speaking about her role as the 'Queen Of The Dales,' Claire teased: 'I can't believe t's 20 years either, but I think the timing was just about right this time.

'It has been mentioned over the years, now the time's right we've got Joe Tate back in there so it just seemed to slot in.'

Claire give little away in regards to what fans can expect when she returns to the soap, but did hint the villainess has far-from thawed with age.

'As always it's a joy to play, and yes she's going to come back and reap havoc, even though she's back for a week, she does quite a lot in that week, and she's bigger and badder than she was before, and obviously a bit older,' she said.

She's back! Speaking to Lorraine Kelly, the actress said it felt like 'the right time' to bring back the character after 20 years away

The news that Kim will only be back in the Dales for week may be a disappointment to some fans, especially as Claire added there are no plans to extend her stint yet.

She said: 'Well I'm kind of committed to panto at Xmas, and I've got a film coming out the end of October, so things are busy, so I'm sorry about that.'

The star - who also had a stint on Coronation Street as Nick Tilsey's love interest Erica Holroyd - went onto say returning to the set was like being welcomed home by old friends, as she still knew many of the soap's cast and crew.

She explained: 'It was the first few days I was working with Andy Scarborough (plays Graham Foster) and he made me feel really at home.

'It's different studios so it did feel like a new job at first, and then the old boots came on and she was back and it felt really home, and yeah it was great.

'There were some friendly faces. It feels like home and I'm a Yorkshire lass, it's just life coming home and everybody's so friendly here they really are.'

Claire's return to the Dales was confirmed on Monday thanks to a sensational trailer teasing her arrival at son Joe's masquerade ball next month.

Taking place in the soap's dramatic October-week story-lines, many fans have theorised her return has something to do with Joe Tate's villainous scheming of recent months.

The character will be an uninvited guest at Joe's, who is her son James' nephew, masquerade ball.

Talking about her return, actress Claire told the Mirror: 'As a Yorkshire lass myself, I’m absolutely thrilled to be back in Yorkshire for a fun-filled cameo, once again reaping havoc in the Dales!

'As there are still some familiar faces from 20 years ago it’s felt like coming home and I couldn’t have had a more lovely welcome from such a talented cast and crew, so thank you everyone! It’s literally been a blast!'

While Emmerdale producer, Kate Brookes, told the publication: 'Kim's explosive return shakes the very foundations of the village as she swaggers back into Home Farm, leaving a devastating trail of destruction in her wake.'

However, the reveal didn't exactly go to plan after an ITV announcer accidentally ruined the surprise in a huge blunder before it was announced.

In an on-air announcement just before 6pm promoting Tuesday's episode of Lorraine, they said: 'It's been 20 years since she left the Dales, but Kim Tate is back. Actress Claire King is on Lorraine at 8.30.'

And the scenes didn't go unnoticed by eagle-eyed soap fans who took to Twitter to share the big reveal and their confusion over the blunder.

One person said: 'ITV have just dropped a bit of a clanger. The continuity announcer has just admitted that Kim Tate is coming back to Emmerdale after 20 years away. It's supposed to be a secret... Not no more it isn't! Woops!'

A different fan put: 'So. The broadcaster on ITV has just given away that Kim Tate is back on @emmerdale.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
