«Breaking News» Crackdown on Miami's illegal party yacht industry launched

The vibrant scene in Miami has shifted to its waters where revelers have taken their over-the-top celebrations to the illegal party yacht industry that has caught the attention of federal agents.

For just a couple of thousand dollars, raunchy cruises filled with models in bikinis and a strong presence of liquor and the dangerous use of drugs have become a hit among the young, hip crowd.

It took a turn for the worst Sunday, when U.S. Coast Guard officers suddenly boarded the 147-foot Golden Touch II while it was docked at the popular Seaspice Brasserie and Lounge on the Miami River and ended the party.

A week-long federal investigation that concluded Sunday led to the seizure of the infamous Golden Touch II and two other popular vessels that were known as the go-to-sites of the all out parties.

Snapchat footage obtained by the Miami Herald shows a small group of men and women drinking, talking and zoned out on their cellular phones as a couple of federal agents stood by while a DJ kept the party going inside the lavish vessel.

Authorities arrested the yacht's owner, Randy Frank Postma, who was charged with operating an illegal charter after an undercover officer shelled out $9,000 to rent the boat.

“The Golden Touch II case highlights how seriously the Coast Guard and our partner agencies take illegal charters,” U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Michael Fazio said in a press release.

The staff judge advocate with the Coast Guard 7 District also added that the "owners and operators are putting at risk the lives of the people they embark and will be held legally liable”, especially after Postma's vessel's was penalized with a Captain of the Port Order after another illegal charter had been operated on August 20.

The federal sting dubbed Operation PAX Defender also terminated two other yachts that were illegally operated: The Blessed and the It’s All Good.

Since April. the feds have zeroed in on the illegal yacht charters after a Miami man and his friends paid $3,000 to spend four hours on the Miami Vice vessel.

According to the Miami Herald, the boat was operated by Mauricio Alvarez, 49, and his son Andrew Tarcisio. Alvarez, who did not possess a captain's licensed  and no proper training, was about to sail away after the 91-foot yacht had been sitting idle at Monument Island and put the vessel on reverse but didn't see if there was anyone in the water. The propellers then sucked in Raul Menedez ,25, instantly killing him.

Alvarez plead guilty to one count of misconduct on a ship and will be sentenced November 19.

The U.S. Coast Guard's arrest of Postma took place after yacht owner Seth Gissen, who boasted of his friendship with star athletes, was arrested August 11.

Gissen was slapped with charges that included the illegal operation of a yacht dubbed No Rules II, and was released on a $50,000 bond.

A week before his arrest, the U.S. Coast Guard pulled over the yacht because it was over it was 'overboard' with about 50 people. As investigator said Gissen was trying to hide the fact that the yacht had been leased to the party goers by ordering them to say that they were his personal guests when in fact they had paid $5,000 for the rental.

The Coast Guard's operation in the 7th District also netted several other illegal charter operations that included 20 boardings throughout the Miami area, 17 boardings throughout the Key West area.

The agents issued a total of 15 violations in the Key West and Miami areas.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
