«Breaking News» Christian Wilkins poses for a selfie with pop icon Cher, 72, and jokes they're related

His father Richard Wilkins may be entertainment royalty and an Australian house-hold name.

But on Monday, Christian Wilkins jokingly introduced another famous face as his family.  

The 23-year-old socialite beamed as he posed for a selfie with 72-year-old pop icon Cher, joking she's his 'real mum'.

With a beaming smile, Christian uploaded the picture to Instagram on Monday, playfully captioning it with: 'I always knew one day I'd meet my real mom (sic)'.

Dressed down in a grungy Marilyn Manson rock T-shirt and his long locks effortlessly falling down over his shoulders _ looking wildly different compared to his flamboyant red carpet style he's known for.

This time he gave the full spotlight to the 72-year-old veteran performer, who wore her usual showgirl uniform- complete with a plunging lace-front top and glittery eye-shadow.

Earlier this year Christian revealed that he planned to follow in the footsteps of seasoned entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins.

'To be his son and follow in his footsteps, I think, is a huge honour and not something that I'm ashamed of,' he said to The Daily Telegraphs Balls Deep podcast in July.

The part-time model added: 'I've always wanted to be an actor or a presenter. They are the two main things I wanted to do.' 

Cher is currently in Australia and about to embark on her 11-show 'Here We Go Again!' tour of Australia- visiting Adelaide, Brisbane, Newcastle, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

Her first show kicks off in Newcastle, New South Wales, on September 26.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
