Brad Pitt's foundation that built sustainable homes for Hurricane Katrina victims, is suing the New Orleans architect behind the designs saying his work has resulted in defective and derelict residences.
Pitt's charity Make It Right filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, saying architecture firm John C. Williams Architects LLC's designs led to $20million in damages.
The lawsuit follows legal action by two residents of the Make It Right homes, filed on September 7 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court accusing the foundation of unfair trade practices, breach of contract, and fraud for the shoddy state of the homes they purchased.
Now the charity is pointing the blame to Williams Architects, which the charity says it gave $4million dollars to produce architectural drawings for 106 sustainable homes in the program.

The lawsuit, filed by attorney Victor J. Franckiewicz, Jr in Civil District Court, says Williams Architect's defective designs led to a myriad of problems with the homes and that repairing damage inflicted by rain and humidity would cost millions.
Make It Right started in 2007 and by 2016 had spent $26.9million building 109 'green', storm-proof, and affordable homes in the Lower 9th Ward, which was the area hit hardest by the hurricane. About 40 homes shy of its goal, the construction was halted in 2016.
However soon after residents moved in, complaints began to pile up as houses began falling into disrepair with problems spanning rotting wood, plumbing issues, and roofs caving in to growths of mold and air ventilation problems.
A year after the first homes were built, they experienced water intrusion.

In the lawsuit Make It Right says it'll cost $20million to repair the damages from rain and humidity
Make It Right says that Williams was responsible for failures to waterproof the structures, many of which had insufficiently sloped roofs, and failed to repair the homes. The foundation claimed to be left in the dark about the defects.
One derelict seven-year-home became so rotted, it was demolished at the insistence of neighbors in June. In 2015 he was granted permission to replace the roof of that home that still had to be tore down.
In June Williams acknowledged that one or two of the Make It Right homes 'may be falling apart'.
The lawsuit says that Williams' firm's effort to repair damages was 'ineffective' and the charity estimates it'll cost $20million to fix the homes up.
It also alleges that Williams Architects knew their 'did not meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design platinum certification requirements, but failed to disclose that fact,' and the firm 'failed to communicate critical information' and 'suppressed the truth', according to WDSU.
The lawsuit against Williams does not hold him liable for the damages to 39 homes caused by the use of an experimental weatherproof wood product called TimberSIL that was rapidly ruined by the south Louisiana environment. In 2014, Make It Right sued the manufacturer of TimberSIL for $500,000, though it's unclear if the company was made to pay.
In a prepared statement, Make It Right pledged to 'continue to work proactively with homeowners in the Lower 9th Ward.'
Williams is yet to comment on the lawsuit.
Pitt had not spoken publicly about Make it Right since the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in 2015

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
