«Breaking News» Bayer Leverkusen boss Heiko Herrlich under pressure from supporters ahead of facing Bayern Munich

Only weeks ago Bayer Leverkusen were seen as title contenders but after two defeats in two Bundesliga matches, boss Heiko Herrlich is under mounting pressure ahead of the visit of champions Bayern Munich.

Leverkusen suffered an opening 2-0 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach and then followed it up with a shock 3-1 home loss to Wolfsburg, who had needed a relegation play-off to stay up last season.

With some of the Bundesliga's most talented players in his squad, including German internationals Jonathan Tah, Kai Havertz and Julian Brandt as well as the highly-rated Leon Bailey, Leverkusen fans believe Herrlich should be getting more from his team.

But so far Leverkusen, fifth last season and level on points with third placed Hoffenheim, have failed to deliver.

'Even before the season got under way we were seen as finishing in second place. Now suddenly everything is bad,' the 46-year-old Herrlich told reporters this week.

'We do have potential in the team and we need to show that as have done (last season).'

Herrlich said he was surprised by the sharp criticism after only two matches but said two defeats 'are obviously not our expectation.'

'But I am happy that it was me who was on the receiving end of it and not the players,' he added. 'It is better like that because I can handle that.'

But he must also show his team can rediscover their form of last season which had made them one of the most exciting teams to watch in the league.

'We have to start doing our own things well and not look too much at the opponent,' he said. 'In the switch we have to defend together, work together. We have to do that over 90 minutes.'

They must now do it against in-form Bayern, who started the season with two wins and look to be on track for a seventh straight league crown.

'I see every match as a chance. The opponent is far superior, no doubt about it. But we will look for our chance,' Herrlich said. Another defeat, however, will inevitably pile more pressure on the coach.

Bayern will be fresh after the international break, with coach Niko Kovac having a full squad to chose from, apart from long-term absentee Kingsley Coman.

The Bavarians also kick off their Champions League campaign next week - an away trip against Benfica.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
