«Breaking News» Amir Khan insists he is not taking Samuel Vargas lightly ahead of Saturday's clash

Amir Khan has prepared diligently for Saturday night's fight against Samuel Vargas and expects the Canadian to provide a sterner test than his compatriot Phil Lo Greco did earlier this year.

Khan is heavily tipped to walk through Vargas in similar fashion to his 40-second demolition job on Lo Greco, but the former lightweight world champion has dismissed any talk of an easy night's work.

The Bolton fighter has enjoyed a full camp with coach Joe Goossen this time around, and although this is just one step on route to be bigger and grander nights, he insists no stone has been left unturned in their preparations.

'It has been a tough training camp. This is the first time me and Joe have spent the full camp together. We are going to be ready for this fight,' Khan said at a press conference on Thursday.

'I have sparred with some amazing tough fighters, fighters that are probably better than my opponent, no disrespect, but when I get in the ring I'm going to do what I do best and put on a show.

'I know it was short last time but I'm not seeing Vargas as another Lo Greco, I'm going to be facing the best fighter from Canada and I have trained like it is a world title fight.'

His opponent on Saturday night, who was born in Colombia but takes up residency in Toronto, insists he has put in the necessary work and is confident of upsetting the apple cart.

Nicknamed 'The Bull' by his trainer, Vargas is taking confidence from Khan's previous brutal knockout defeats and believes he has the power to trouble the former world champion.

He said: 'There is no doubt in my mind that I will be victorious on Saturday night, I know in my heart, I think about it and I dream about it. I think he is an old man and he is over the hill, I know he thinks in his sleep that if I touch him he will get hurt.'

Khan, who is now 31, acknowledged he is somewhat of a veteran in the sport now, but is adamant there is still more in the tank and that any gung-ho tactics will ultimately end in failure.

The Bolton man added: 'I hope he does coming looking for a knockout as that makes it an exciting fight, I never step back, if it is a fight it's a fight and I will get involved in it.

'I have been watching videos of Vargas and I have seen a few things in there that I can exploit. I have prepared for 12 rounds and I know I have got everything it takes to win this fight and I'm looking forward to getting in the ring now and going back to business.

'In the welterweight division I am unbeaten, it's where I feel at my best and my strongest, and I intend to stay unbeaten at this weight. Whatever he brings to the table we have answers for.'

Khan is eyeing blockbuster clashes against either WBA world champion Manny Pacquiao or domestic rival Kell Brook after Vargas and understands how significant a comprehensive victory on Saturday will be to his hopes of securing those big pay days, adding: 'I know what winning this fight means and what it will get me, so that is why I can't wait to put on a great performance.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
