«Breaking News» Alan Jackson's son-in-law was helping woman onto boat when he fell

A promising young attorney who was also the son-in-law of country star Alan Jackson tragically died Wednesday after he fell from dock while assisting a woman onto a boat in Florida.

Samuel Benton Selecman, 28, had been hospitalized for over a week after the incident that took place in the West Palm Beach area. He suffered traumatic head injuries as a result.

The Miami Herald first reported that Selecman slipped and fell from a dock while trying to help a woman onto a boat safely.

Selecman was set to celebrate his first wedding anniversary next month with wife Mattie - who now must prepare for her husband's funeral.

He and his wife lived in Nashville, where he had been appointed an assistant district attorney for the 20th Judicial District of Tennessee in April of last year.

In addition to his wife, Selecman is survived by parents Mark and Brenda and brother Cole.

Heartbroken loved ones wrote on the country music star's official website: 'The Jackson and Selecman families ask for - and appreciate - prayers during this difficult time.'

District Attorney Glenn Fuynk also paid tribute to the young man in a statement on Thursday.

'The DA’s office is thankful for every day that Ben had the opportunity to serve the people of Davidson County,' said Funk.

'Our prayers are with Ben’s family. He will be truly missed.'

The incident happened in Jupiter, but it is unclear where as the Jackson family sold their property there back in 2012.

No other details have been released at this time and local police and emergency responders have yet to respond to requests for comment.

A visitation for Ben’s friends and family took place on Sunday while the funeral service will be held Monday.

In lieu of flowers, Selecman's family asked that people consider donating to St. Mary’s Medical Trauma Center for Brain Trauma Research.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
