«Breaking News» Parkland shooting survivor turned gun control activist David Hogg, 18, 'accepted into Harvard'

Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg has been accepted into Harvard University after launching a high profile campaign for stricter gun control.

The 18-year-old's mom shared the happy news that he would be off to the prestigious Ivy League school to major in political science.

Rebecca Boldrick is said to be 'super proud' of her teenage son, TMZ reports.

David survived the Parkland massacre which saw 17 of his fellow students and teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida shot and killed by gunman Nikolas Cruz.

Since then Hogg, along with classmates like Emma González and Cameron Kasky, helped to launch the March for Our Lives movement.

He has already spoken at the school twice this year and some of his relatives are alumni.

UC Irvine also offered Hogg a place but it is understood he will go to Harvard.

His mom Rebecca is said to be 'excited for his future' with the teen understood to be starting the Massachusetts college in the fall of 2019.

She had previously said: 'We could never afford Harvard. Never. It wasn't on our radar. I looked it up and saw how much it cost and said, ''There is no way.''

'With any luck at all, he can get into Harvard and they can help us financially.'

It comes as an elderly Florida man has been charged with a federal crime of mailing a threatening communication to the family's home.

Warren Stanley Bond, 78, is said to have mailed a letter to Rebecca in June.

The letter, addressed to the activist's mother, was white and used a self-adhesive. There was no return address on the envelope.

Inside, a piece of paper read: 'Keep F------ with the NRA and you will be DOA.'

In August this year Hogg said he wants to join a 2020 presidential campaign and revealed he aspires to run for Congress when he is 25-years-old.

Cruz stormed Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, killing 17 students and staff, leaving up to 50 injured.

He is facing the death penalty for Florida's deadliest school shooting.

Rebecca...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
