Married to Prince Harry and with a baby on the way, the Duchess of Sussex has the world as her stage.
The American former actress will, nevertheless, perform a spectacular return to Hollywood, according to her last showbusiness agent.
‘I’m sure she’ll make a movie again,’ Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne tells me. ‘I really do think that.’
Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne (left with Meghan Markle) says Meghan (right) is set to make a comeback
Gina, who represented Meghan until she met Harry, compares the Duchess’s situation with that of Oscar winner Grace Kelly, who abandoned Tinseltown to marry Prince Rainier of Monaco.
However, Princess Grace’s yearning to return led to major ructions with her husband, who banned her from accepting the leading role in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1964 film Marnie and subsequent Hollywood offers.
Gina said that Meghan (right) will be a 'lovely mummy' and her nurturing nature was why Harry (left) married her
Meghan now has an important role in the royal ‘Firm’ and a diversion to La La Land would not be welcomed by officials.
But Gina, who became close friends with Meghan and was with her the day she met the Prince, says courtiers couldn’t prevent her achieving her big-screen ambitions.
‘If Meghan wants to make a movie again, she will,’ says Gina at a party in London’s Marylebone.
‘She’s a determined woman and she knows what she wants. She’s a woman of today, she’s got her will and she’s a leader.’
Meghan made her name in the legal drama Suits and had mainly small parts in films, but she would win starring roles on her return.
‘She’ll definitely do something serious,’ Gina says. ‘She’s not going to be a frivolous little girl like she’s been before. And she’s a great actress.’
The Hollywood return will not happen until Meghan, 37, has had a number of children. ‘I know how much she wanted babies — plural,’ Gina adds.
‘She’s going to be a lovely mummy — she’s very nurturing and that’s probably why Harry fell for her.’
Jacobs's property ladder
Jacob Rees-Mogg has been appointed as a trustee of Charlton Park
Although a pin-up of the hard Brexiteers, Jacob Rees-Mogg denies he has his eyes on No. 10. But does the double-breasted MP have designs on an even grander address?
I ask only because Rees-Mogg has been appointed as a trustee of Charlton Park, ancestral Wiltshire seat of the Earl of Suffolk.
Jacob and his wife Helena already own a £5 million townhouse near Parliament and a 400-year-old Somerset mansion. But a friend jokes: ‘With six children, Jacob could do with even more space.’
The turrets of Charlton Park were converted into flats in the Seventies. The 21st earl owns the park and surrounding agricultural estate, which hosts world music festival Womad. I always had the rarefied Rees-Mogg down as a Purcell man.
The Queen appeared close to tears when she spoke to Grenfell Tower survivors last year and later paid tribute to them in her Christmas speech. HM takes a close interest in the inquiry into the disaster and invited the coroner, Dr Fiona Wilcox, to lunch at Buckingham Palace this week.
A courtier tells me: ‘The Queen likes to be kept up to date and wants to know how a similar tragedy can be prevented.’

Diana’s ‘One’ steps out with fiancee
Princess Diana called him ‘The One’, assuring a friend: ‘He has given me all the things I need.’
But has Punjab-born heart surgeon Hasnat Khan, 60, married his much younger fiancee, Somi Sohail?
The couple were pictured at the Chain Of Hope charity ball. Somi now opts to be known as Somi Khan, suggesting they may have already married.
Diana, who met Khan in 1995, so longed to become his wife that she contemplated converting to Islam.
Khan loved her too and frequently visited her at Kensington Palace, where he was known as ‘Natty’, but ended their relationship when he realised they were from ‘two different planets’.
Cabinet minister Penny Mordaunt tells me she’s often confused for a French screen legend.
‘I’m afraid to say I regularly get told that I look like Catherine Deneuve,’ she reveals.
‘I can’t see it myself, but I’m flattered.’
Yikes! Zoe Ball’s boy makes outlandish fashion debut
What a debut! Zoe Ball’s son Woody rocks a sackcloth and ashesmeets- The Hobbit look for his first professional photoshoot. And while DJ Zoe can expect to command a £1 million salary when she takes over Radio 2’s Breakfast Show next month — Woody is just starting out in his modelling career.
Zoe Ball's son Woody (pictured left) has just signed to a modelling agency in London. He is pictured (right centre) with his father Norman Cook and Mother Zoe Ball
He took the first steps this week by signing up to PRM Model Agency in London.
Posting his inaugural efforts online, Woody sported a bizarre beige corset-style garment over a terracotta boiler suit with flared legs, paired with eye-catching wooden footwear. The 17- year-old jokes: ‘A man is nothing without his clogs.’
Zoe, 48, who also has a daughter, Nelly, eight, by ex-husband Norman Cook — aka DJ Fatboy Slim — has given her approval by describing Woody as her ‘model son’.
She recently revealed that it was Woody who encouraged her to take the Breakfast Show radio job, telling her it was the ‘coolest thing’.
Jade Jagger (pictured above) leaving Claridges Hotel in Mayfair
Jagger’s girl looks just a little Jaded
Jade Jagegr, who became a grandmother at the age of 47, still knows how to party like a teenager.
So enthusiastically did Sir Mick Jagger’s jewellery-designing daughter revel at a festive shindig at Claridge’s this week that she left barefoot in the small hours, clutching her 6in platform heels.
The party was hosted by Diane von Furstenberg and Jade wore one of the fashionista’s £750 wrap dresses. Handily, it complemented the green shade of the departing jewellery designer’s toenails.
Lady Annabel recalls night the Queen came clubbing
Unlikely as it might sound, the Queen once visited a nightclub — Annabel’s in Mayfair.
And now Lady Annabel Goldsmith, who inspired its name, has been recalling the unique evening.
‘The Queen was at my table,’ Lady Annabel says. ‘She was animated, joking and laughing, really loving it. She told me, as she left, that she’d had such a good time. I was amazed.’
It was the 70th birthday party of the Queen’s close friend, the Countess of Airlie, in 2003.
Lady Annabel — whose first husband, Mark Birley, founded the club — was a confidante of Princess Diana. ‘I suppose I was a mother figure to her,’ she says in next month’s Tatler. ‘We were very close.’
Prince Andrew was once refused admission for being inappropriately dressed.
‘Mark felt that if he relaxed the rules for one, it wouldn’t be fair,’ she explains in the interview, in which she also remembers the unwelcome advances of late American senator Teddy Kennedy on the dancefloor — ‘not a treat’.
Perhaps he was over-enthused by the memorable portrait of Annabel which hung above the bar.
She says triumphantly: ‘Richard Caring [Annabel’s new owner] really wanted it, but I negotiated and got it back.’
Humbug! Celebrity vicar Rev Richard Coles says the Church’s most well-attended festival should only be held once every five years. ‘Secretly, a part of me rather wishes that Christmas were quinquennial,’ he says: ‘There’s something about too frequent repetition that can dull even the strongest appetite.’
The smart set's talking about...Lorry driver's lifting Carly
Celebrated tenor Alfie Boe sang and Hollywood star Tom Hardy gave a reading at a charity carol concert in St James’s this week, but the audience was left captivated by the daughter of a Nottinghamshire lorry driver.
She is Carly Paoli, a 29-year-old soprano who performed a sublime rendition of Dvorak’s Rusalka (Song To The Moon) at the London concert held by the Quintessentially Foundation for The Felix Project food charity.
Classic BRIT Nominee Carly Paoli performs in aid of Help for Heroes Charity at Debenhams, Oxford Street
Born in Mansfield to Paul Hopkinson and former travel agent Tina Paoli, Carly is now singing for royalty and credits her success to her humble upbringing.
‘Their full-time jobs make me ever more grateful that they made time for me,’ she tells me. ‘After school, they’d whisk me to dance class and singing lessons. Afterwards, I’d find them in the car park fast asleep.’ They now work for their daughter. ‘In a way, my dream became their dream. I couldn’t be in better hands than my dad’s, driving me all over the country. My mum’s pretty much my manager.’
Her hard work has paid off. ‘It’s not unusual for me to earn more than £10,000 for a 60 to 90-minute concert,’ says Carly, who doesn’t have time for a boyfriend and lives with her parents in a ten-bedroom house she bought in Wiltshire.
She’s sung with Andrea Bocelli and Jose Carreras, but one of her most thrilling experiences was performing for Prince Charles.
‘The first occasion was at Windsor Castle. I felt incredibly honoured that he then invited me back to perform on behalf of his foundation.
‘That was really special. He said he loved the songs. And the Duchess of Cornwall asked for my debut album, Singing My Dreams.’
(Very) modern manners
If you run a business, should you give your friends freebies? That’s the dilemma faced by pop star James Blunt, who’s taken over a pub in Chelsea, The Fox & Pheasant, with his aristocratic wife, Sofia Wellesley.
But Blunt, 44, has been inundated with visits from old pals who might expect the booze to be on the house. ‘My friends don’t get free drinks,’ he tells me. ‘Everyone has to pay.’
At least it should make his popularity soar during the festive season. The singer, who was a guest at his chum Princess Eugenie’s wedding, says of the pub: ‘It’s a wonderful thing to have at Christmas.’

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
