'Awkward': The blonde beauty, 29, reached the final with male model Paul, 31, although their relationship came to a end just two months after leaving the villa (pictured
She said: 'The idea of the show is lovely but the idea of spending two days in a house with your ex is not really what you want to be doing at Christmas time so I was quite apprehensive for my own situation with Paul and for a couple of the other Islanders that have broken up.
The Love Island finalist said: 'If you're in a couple it's a lovely experience but it's not for everyone . I just thought all us girls stick together, we help each other and I just thought it's not the worst situation I've ever been in, it's only two days.
'If I could do eight weeks in the summer, I could do this.
Discussing the pair's reunion, she said: 'It wasn't as a bad as I thought, it was quite nice. We had an awkward chat but it turned out to be a nice little happy ending.'
New man: The former air hostess is now in a blossoming relationship with Max Morley, 25, who won the show in 2015, with the star waxing lyrical about the new romance of two months
In the wake of their split Paul had claimed Laura had cheated on him with current beau and former Love Island champion Max Morley, something which Laura vehemently denied.
She in turn blamed the split on conflicting schedules, and said she had hoped to spend more time with him, which didn't happen.
On the subject of Paul's claims, she said: 'We had a chat.
'We had the opportunity to sit face-to-face, hear both sides of the story and get down to the truth for everyone to see what the reality of it was.
'I hope we've achieved that, it's not really nice, there's a lot of agreeing to disagree with a lot of the couples but at least it draws a line under it and hopefully next year it's all positive.
Happier times: She said: 'The idea of the show is lovely but the idea of spending two days in a house with your ex is not really what you want to be doing at Christmas time so I was quite apprehensive for my own situation with Paul'
On her and Paul's current status, the star said: 'We're not really friends, we're very very different people and I don't think you can fully realise that when you're in the villa
'You don't really know who people are until you leave. When we got out, it just did not work which is absolutely fine, it just seemed like a bigger deal because people were invested.
'It makes it ten times harder when you go through a break. I think Paul said amicable, we'll just go with that word.'
The former air hostess is now in a blossoming relationship with Max, 25, who won the show in 2015, with the star waxing lyrical about the new romance.
She said: 'It's been like two months, we're trying to keep it chilled, just take things slow. I always say I've got no regrets but one thing I would like to change in my approach is definitely just taking things slower, I fall for people too quickly and there's a big drama when it doesn't work out.
Not meant to be: On her and Paul's current status, the star said: 'We're not really friends, we're very very different people and I don't think you can fully realise that when you're in the villa'
Over: In the wake of their split Paul had claimed Laura had cheated on him with current beau Max Morley, something which Laura vehemently denied. She in turn blamed the split on conflicting schedules (pictured in August 2018)
'If you want something to last, the key is just to take it a little bit slower.
'Max and I have had a long chat about how we want things to play, I think keeping it as private as possible.
Revealing the couple were about to go on their first holiday together, the star said: 'I'm happy. We're going to Barbados on Friday. It's a job thing that I'm doing but they invited him along and he was like 'yees'.
I was really worried when Paul and I broke up, I thought "oh my goodness" I didn't want to meet anyone but I was like, I don't see how I'm going to be able to trust people.
'I thought it might be difficult being in the public eye. It made it really easy , Max got the situation but wasn't chasing it. He doesn't really want to be in the limelight so I knew his attentions with me were very genuine.'
Laura, who won legions of fans in the villa with her mature approach and kind personality despite romantic setbacks gave her advice for singletons and those fresh out of relationships.
Happy couple: Revealing the couple were about to go on their first holiday together, the star said: 'I'm [happy]. We're going to Barbados on Friday'
She said: 'I was involved in Love Island and had a journey to say the least!
'It's been interesting to chat about it, I hope that I've got some good insight to love lives in general so it's good to chat about these things in a positive way even if you've had bad things happen, you can always turn it around. I tried my best anyway this summer!
'I think we're quite hard on ourselves so just be patient and give yourself time. Time is a healer from personal experience.
'You always think it's the end of the world but if you've ever gone through a break-up before you can do it again. It's almost like grieving, you've lost someone who could have been part of your life for a long time,
'The worst thing you can do is not accept it. As soon as someone leaves you, as soon as someone gives up on you , if they've left you, that's the moment that they don't deserve you.
'Have a little bit of faith, things do happen for a reason, it just takes time to realise why.'
Sage advice: Giving her own advice for singletons ahead of the show, she said: 'I think we're quite hard on ourselves so just be patient and give yourself time. Time is a healer from personal experience'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
