«Breaking News» Hundreds of sausage dogs and their owners dress up in their festive finery

Hundreds of sausage dogs and their owners have dressed up in festive attire and met up for a Christmas walk.

The horde of around 500 dogs, which are also known as dachshunds, came in outfits including Father Christmas jackets, festive elf jumpers and tinsel.

In the spirit of Christmas, several owners were also spotted wearing jumpers with 'Dachshund through the snow' stitched on the front.

Cassandra Williams, 30, who brought her sausage dog Rupert, said: 'It's a good excuse for us all to get together, all the slightly mad people, and have a day.

'It's a good opportunity for her dog to "make friends" and learn to be more sociable.'

The pets and their owners defied the brisk December chill on Sunday morning in London's Hyde Park to embrace a little festive cheer.

Details of the walk had previously been published online but were later pulled from the internet by listings website Secret London.

The website blamed the decision on the 'crazy amount of interest' organisers had received.

Listings website Secret London said its decision to remove the details was due to the 'crazy amount of interest'. Pictured: dachshund Lulu takes part in a sausage dog festive walk in Hyde Park, London

Ana Rodriguez, 30, who planned the meet up and runs monthly sausage dog walks, said: 'We have a Christmas special or a Halloween special.

'This one, we expect, is going to be the biggest.

'It is a growing group.'

She added: 'It is a good way to socialise the dogs with the same breed and to meet more dog owners.

'They love to play with their own breed and I think it is really good for them.'

While most of the sausage dogs looked to be thoroughly enjoying their time outside, several scraps broke out among the dachshunds and their owners were needed to pull them apart.

Thomas Brand, 32, who brought his dog Teddy, said: 'We love how many people are here. Everyone seems really happy and Teddy really loves it.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
