For the first eight years of her life, Charlotte Roberts struggled with every word.
Trapped in her own mind, she found it hard to communicate in a world that seemed scary and hostile.
But then she met a pony called Babe in a field near her home, forging a remarkable bond that would end her isolation.
As the friendship between girl and horse intensified, Charlotte began to speak, confiding in her equine companion.
For the first eight years of her life, Charlotte Roberts struggled with every word. Then she met a pony called Babe in a field near her home in Capel Curig, North Wales - forging a remarkable bond that would end her isolation. (Above, Charlotte with Babe when she was still young enough to ride her)
Charlotte’s mother, Rachel, says that before her daughter met Babe, her life was ‘like being in a foreign country... She was locked in, and her speech was very limited and difficult to understand’.
She was even bullied by fellow pupils at the special school she attended to help with her developmental difficulties.
But all began to change when Charlotte – also known as Charly – met Babe.
‘Charly apparently went straight up to Babe and gave her a hug,’ said 48-year-old Mrs Roberts.

Horse and child spent hours together with Charlotte learning to ride, and eventually feeling safe enough in Babe’s company to start practising words.
‘At first, she might say something like “horse”, but Charly needed to help Babe learn how to be ridden, and she needed to use language,’ said Mrs Roberts.
‘It was a big moment for me when I heard her say, “Come on Babe.” Later, she would talk to Babe about her day, saying, “Oh Babe, someone was really mean today, but it’s OK, I’ve got you.”
‘The world didn’t become such a scary place with Babe around.’
Now 13, Charlotte has grown too big to ride Babe, but she still lives in the family’s field in Capel Curig in North Wales.
‘Babe was her best buddy,’ Mrs Roberts said. ‘She helped open her up to a whole new world.’

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
