«Breaking News» White House ADMITS Trump announced economic number that was inflated by a factor of ten

The White House on Monday admitted a Monday tweet by President Donald Trump about a U.S. economic benchmark being the best in a century was wildly off the mark.

Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors Kevin Hassett owned up to the the presidential error at Monday's White House press briefing.

He surprised reporters with his answer when asked about the president's tweet that, 'The GDP Rate (4.2%) is higher than the Unemployment Rate (3.9%) for the first time in over 100 years!'

'That's just not true,' a reporter told him, correctly.

'But what is true is that it's the highest in ten years,' Trump economic adviser Kevin Hassett told reporters Monday

'So I can tell you what is true,' Hassett responded. 'The history of thought of how errors happen is not something that, you know, I can engage in, because like from the initial fact to what the president said, that I don't know the whole chain of command,' he continued.

'But what is true is that it's the highest in ten years.'

But Hassett said he did not know the 'chain of command' of how the false information got into the president's hands – although his telling did put the fault with staff, not the president.

'And at some point, somebody probably conveyed it to him, adding a zero to that and they shouldn't have done that,' Hassett said.

'And I can say that at least we numbers geeks here at the White House are grateful  – when the press finds mistakes that we make – we don't like making mistakes, but we're grateful when they're pointed out because we want to correct them,' Hassett said, making the best of the situation.

Then he brought up another recent glaring error, when Sanders inaccurately claimed Trump had achieved more gains in African American employment than President Obama had in eight years.

She later admitted: 'Jobs numbers for Pres Trump and Pres Obama were correct, but the time frame for Pres Obama wasn't. I'm sorry for the mistake, but no apologies for the 700,000 jobs for African Americans created under President Trump.'

The Council of Economic Advisors apologized online and took the blame. Hassett added on Monday: 'And you might have noticed they gave Sarah a bad number a few weeks ago, it was 100 per cent my fault and I apologized immediately. We created it.  You'd have to talk to the president about where the number came but the correct number is ten years,' he concluded.

His language included enough wiggle room that it did not entirely rule out the president having committed his own error.

'I'm not the chairman of council of Twitter advisers,' Hassett quipped.

The acknowledgement of the inaccurate tweet came at a briefing where press secretary Sanders faced a series of questions about the president's claim that Bob Woodward's book 'is a scam.' But Sanders said the White House did not plan to produce a point-by-point rebuttal of claims in the book it said were false.

Trump has attacked journalist Bob Woodward as a 'liar' following releases from his new book, 'Fear,' which depicts utter chaos inside the White House.

Hassett also ducked a follow-up question about where Trump got a quote he attribute to President Obama on Monday.

Trump has been on full blast trying to diminish Woodward's credibility in advance of Tuesday's publication of the book 'Fear,' complaining that the book used 'disproven' sources to kneecap him

'President Trump would need a magic wand to get to 4% GDP,' stated President Obama,' Trump wrote. 'I guess I have a magic wand, 4.2%, and we will do MUCH better than this! We have just begun.'

Asked if Obama ever said that, Hassett pleaded ignorance. 'I don't know. I'm sorry. And again, I'm not the chairman of the 'Council of Twitter Advisors,' he said.

Data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis states that there have been 185 months since 1948 when the nation's GDP at an annualized rate surpassed the unemployment rate, according to the New York Times. It last happened in 2006.

'The economy is soooo good, perhaps the best in our country's history,' Trump tweeted Monday morning.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
