«Breaking News» This is what 54 looks like: Retired hospitality worker reveals her top tips for staying youthful

OVERNIGHT OLIVE OIL

Since I have dry, sensitive skin, I can’t get facials. Instead, I apply olive oil to my face, arms, legs, elbows and knees one night a week — or more often in winter. It’s super-hydrating and my skin feels silky soft when I wake up. I also wear cotton gloves or socks to help the oil soak in. It’s a trick my mum taught me when I was a teenager and couldn’t afford expensive moisturisers!

JUICING RETREAT

Two years ago, I went to a Jason Vale juicing retreat in Turkey (juicemaster.com). I lost half a stone in five days. Every day we drank a ginger and apple shot at 6am to kick-start the digestive system. I felt so sluggish before I went, but left feeling much lighter. Now I drink a shot of pure juiced ginger in the mornings. I freeze portions in ice-cube trays, defrosting them in the microwave.

TRY MIDLIFE TENNIS

Every week, I play doubles tennis with friends — they are older than me, in their late 50s and 70s. But they’ve been playing for years, so they keep me on my toes. I’m exhausted after two hours. It’s such an inspiration: I want to be as fit as them at 75! I only took up the sport at 45, to tone my arms, as I worried I was getting bingo wings. It’s amazing for keeping you in shape.

CHARITY CHALLENGE

It’s crucial to stay positive during times of hardship. I did my first 400-mile charity cycle ride five years ago, after I lost my best friend to cancer. She was my age. It hit me hard. But it helped to meet people in a similar position — they are real fighters. I’ve since lost five other friends and family in the past 18 months, so I will be doing a five-day charity ride in Borneo this year to raise money for the UK Sepsis Trust.

BLITZ YOUR ROOTS

My voluminous dark hair is a key part of my identity. I didn’t start going grey until my mid-40s. But I only need to dye the roots, which I do every six weeks, to keep the rest healthy. In between, I use L’Oreal Magic Retouch (£8.99, boots.com) to blitz away greys.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
