«Breaking News» Golfer Rory McIlroy sells his six-bedroom Florida mansion

Golfer Rory McIlroy has sold his mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, nine months after putting it on the market for $12.9 million.

McIlroy, from Northern Ireland, put the six-bedroom home in Palm Beach Gardens up for sale in December last year, and has now accepted an offer on the house.

He originally bought the home for $9.5 million in 2013, and opted to sell it after moving into a nearby house previously owned by South African golfer Ernie Els.

The property has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a fully kitted out gym and a pool.

But what makes the house the perfect home for any golf fan is a putting green in the backyard.

Manchester United supporter McIlroy, who earned more than $49,5million (£36million) last year, opted to add a personal touch, hanging a framed football shirt on the wall.

While photos show social areas decorated with a vintage Coca Cola machine and a pool table, it is not known if McIlroy and wife Erica Stoll will be passing these on to the new owners.

The house also overlooks a lake and has a dock, meaning any budding sailors can take full advantage of Florida's natural geography.

Notable neighbours in the area include Serena and Venus Williams, and former Republican primary candidate Dr Ben Carson. 

McIlroy put the property on the market eight months after marrying his now-wife Erica Stoll.

The couple first met in 2012. McIlroy had overslept during the Ryder Cup Miracle at Medinah, and Stoll was the PGA employee who came and woke him up.

At the time, McIlroy was still dating Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, but they split after a short engagement in 2014.

McIlroy and New York-born Stoll started dating the following year and married at Ashworth Castle in Ireland on April 22, 2017.

Guests at the wedding included soul legend Stevie Wonder, One Direction's Niall Horan and singer Chris Martin.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
