«Breaking News» Father, 24, shot and killed during a carjacking before three suspects set car on fire

A father of two was killed in Atlanta after being shot in the neck during a carjacking on Tuesday.

Terrick Matthews, 24, was in the passenger seat of the car with a friend when three men came up to them, with one brandishing a handgun, the second man in the car told police.

The two men got out of the vehicle without issue, but when the trio went to get inside, one of the three men fired his gun, hitting Matthews in the neck and killing him.

Police say he died from his injuries at the scene.

After taking off with Matthews's car, the three men took drove to a nearby service station, with surveillance footage obtained by WSBTV showing one man pay for gas before finding an empty plastic bottle in a nearby bin.

Police say the man filled the bottle with gas before using it to set the stolen car on fire less than a mile from the gas station.

East Point Police spokeswoman Ebony Johnson says there is no reason Matthews needed to die this week. 

 'It wasn't necessary for them to take his life,' she told the broadcaster.

While three of the men are believed to be directly involved in the carjacking, the other two were also seen at the gas station that night and are believed to have information that could help police (it is not known which of the men is a suspect)

'They were in compliance. They were getting out of the vehicle at that point.'

Matthews has two young children, and police say his family are distraught at his sudden death.

East Point Police have identified five men they wish to speak to - the three seen in the car, as well as two more who were also at the gas station on Tuesday.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
