«Breaking News» Cher insists she wore 'five pounds of make-up' to look so young on Mamma Mia!

She plays the impossibly glamorous mother of Meryl Streep's character in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. 

And Cher, 72, has revealed exactly how she looked so youthful in the hotly-tipped musical, joking that she wore 'five pounds of make-up' on set.

Speaking in Attitude's October issue, the legendary pop icon also said the director, Ol Parker, 'really liked' her and took 'extra special care' to film her in good lighting.

'Make-up. Five pounds of make-up. Also the director really liked me, and I think he took extra special care to light me,' the Believe hitmaker said.  

'That has a lot to do with it. He was wonderful. I didn't really see the whole movie because I'm not quite ready. And I will see it at some point. I don't really love seeing my movies right away.'

Aside from her scene-stealing turn in the Mamma Mia prequel-sequel, Cher has launched Dancing Queen, her new album of Abba covers.   

Discussing the album's 'camp' moments, she said: 'In my mind it wasn't. Honestly! I didn't mean it to be camp! I'm happy if whoever wants to think of it as that, if it makes them happy I'm pleased.

'But I didn't mean it to be camp at all. I just thought it to be either fun or a little bit heart-breaking.'

She also discussed the eternal appeal of ABBA's music and admitted some of them were tricky for her to sing. 

'ABBA songs are a lot harder to sing than one might imagine. They're much more intricate, they're much more substantive,' the If I Could Turn Back Time hitmaker said.

I think that people love ABBA, but I'm not so sure they appreciate them on a musical level. I don't think they ask themselves, 'Why am I loving this?'

While fans waited with bated breath until the closing scenes of the sequel, it was well worth the wait as Cher performs a passionate rendition of ABBA's Fernando.

The singer stole the show when she belted out her powerful vocals while serenading Andy Garcia in heart-wrenching scenes.

Despite her astonishing performance, Cher confessed she was 'really frightened' to join the star-studded Mamma Mia cast who had been together since the 2008 flick.

She told The Mirror: 'I went into it really frightened. I didn't like my dialogue and I didn't see how I was going to be this woman.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
