«Breaking News» Can you pick the designer clothing from the budget buys?

As the saying goes, imitation is the greatest form of flattery, a mantra which rings particularly true in the world of fashion.

In recent years, dedicated social media accounts like Diet Prada have blossomed into powerful, digital voices committed to calling out copy cats who used a little too much inspiration from original creators in their own collections.

But with relentless waves of fast fashion flooding stores and sites alike, it's becoming increasingly difficult to separate real from fake and bargain basement from high-end luxury.

In a bid to sharpen your sartorial senses, FEMAIL put together a 'look book' of confusingly similar styles with very different price tags.

So can you tell the difference?

THE SILK SHIRT

The stallion of Italian fashion, Versace is renowned for its unapologetic, bold designs, none more famous than the gold baroque pattern.

The instantly recognisable, signature print was founder Gianni Versace’s most beloved creation and one which has clearly stood the test of time.

For those after a piece of history, the vintage Versace baroque leopard print silk blouse is a collector's item and a sartorial antique with the hefty price of $1,888.

But if you're feeling less committed to investing in the style stakes, online site Boohoo offer a remarkably similar shirt for just $27.

THE CROP TOP

Ever since Kanye West debuted season six of his self-titled Yeezy brand on wife Kim Kardashian, miniscule knitted crop tops have popped up on sites and runways worldwide from Asos to Gucci.

But if you're after a bona fide 'Ye' original, you'll need to fork out the tidy sum of $413 for the privilege of sporting his Sock Knit Bra, shown above right in shade glacier.

Kanye fans have no need to fret, however, thanks to a plethora of imitations by online retailer Pretty Little Thing.

The Manchester-based fashion giant offers a strikingly similar charcoal bralet complete with ribbed texturing and a scooped neck for just $18.

THE SUMMER DRESS

With the Australian summer right around the corner, women across the country are starting to search for the perfect dress to keep them light and breezy during the warm season.

And while many might be tempted to splash the cash on a designer number, FEMAIL's comparison shows it's possible to look hot to trot for less thank you may think.

Australian household name Bec and Bridge is gaining traction around the world of late with catwalk queens such as Emma Louise Connelly rocking their pieces as part of the 'off duty model' wardrobe.

Bec and Bridge's polka dot plunge dress costs $260 and comes with floating, ethereal capped sleeves to keep you cool all summer long.

Oceania's favourite bargain chain Cotton On released their own take on the popular polka dot trend with this wrap top and skirt combo which cost a reasonable $30 each.

THE TIE-UP SWIMSUIT

Over the last decade, one piece swimwear has grown in popularity thanks to its figure flattering shape and guaranteed security which safeguards against beach side slippage.

The left design comes from budget-friendly online seller Zaful, known for their low prices and wide range of imitations.

Their polka dot high-cut one piece is priced at $16.

Worn by the designer herself, the Cardiff swimsuit from Inamorata by international model Emily Ratajkowski retails at a cooler $160 - ten times the price of it's Zaful counterpart.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
