«Breaking News» Boris Becker enjoys a beer at Oktoberfest

Boris Becker was spotted among the thousands of revellers who have descended on Munich for the beer festival Oktoberfest.

The former World Champion was seen swigging lager and dancing in his home country in the Bavarian capital yesterday.

Just days after his estranged wife reportedly made a barb about him online, the tennis legend appeared relaxed as he celebrated one of Germany's most famous traditions.

Becker, 50, is locked in a divorce battle with Dutch model Lilly Kerssenberg, 42, and appeared at the Central Family Court in London last week.

Before she faced her husband in court, Kerssenberg posted: 'Not today, Satan not today. The Devil whispered in my ear: "You're not strong enough to withstand this storm". I whispered back: "It's you that isn't strong enough".'

The sportsman also posted a negative comment despite his lawyer having previously claimed that the split was amicable.

'There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it,' he wrote. 'You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything by happy.'

But there were no signs of bitterness today as he gripped a stein of beer at the event in Theresienwiese, where the 185th Oktoberfest got underway this weekend.

Mayor Dieter Reiter inserted the tap in the first keg yesterday with two blows of a hammer and the cry of 'O'zapft is' which means 'it's tapped'.

In line with tradition, he handed the first mug to Bavarian governor Markus Soeder, who declared that 'the Oktoberfest is perhaps Bavaria's biggest and best calling card in the world'.

Drinkers donned lederhosen or dirndls as they flooded the festival to buy their first drinks on Saturday morning under the supervision of 600 police officers.

Hundreds of stewards are keeping order in fenced-off grounds during the event - which lasts 16 days. Becker arrived for the first day of the even wearing a blue Bavarian waistcoat. He split from his wife after 13 years together and announced the divorce battle in May this year.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
