«Breaking News» Bodyguard's Richard Madden 'worries about being objectified'

He has seen immeasurable success playing the role of a troubled former soldier in new six-part drama, Bodyguard.

And accompanying a brooding photoshoot for Mr Porter, Richard Madden has now offered an incredible insight into his rise to the top where he addresses the surprising gender backlash regarding the new BBC series.

Serious in his craft and ability, the British actor, 32, also touched upon his 'worry' about being objectified for his handsome appearance, admitting that he couldn't moan about it as it 'always happens to women.'

While Richard has garnered critical acclaim for his new role in Bodyguard, there has been a noticeable uproar about the series depicting females in powerful roles.

Left baffled, the star told the publication: 'I just thought: this is so f****** bananas! It’s not unrealistic at all to have these women in there – it’s completely normal.'

Richard offered context into his confusion: 'Especially when the show focuses on a young white male. Let’s not forget that the camera is on a young white male the whole time.'

Another thing that has been noticed by viewers is Richard's good looks, which doesn't sit too well with him.

Richard explained: 'I worry sometimes about it affecting my job. If people go, "Oh, you know, he’s that hunky thing", then it undermines that actually I’m an actor, and I’m trying really hard to be good at it.'

However, the Scottish star was quick to realise he 'didn't have a right to be p***** off' as objectification has been happening to women for a long time.

An actor's look and physique is no doubt a huge factor when it comes to bagging roles and Richard has frustratingly admitted: 'I’ve done loads of jobs where I’ve been asked, or told, I need to lose weight – or I need to be in the gym every day.

'That sucks, because it actually gets in the way of the job, a bit. And also because it’s just unrealistic,' Richard stated.

And offering a huge popular culture reference, the TV star added: 'Not everyone walks around with six-packs – unless you’re on Love Island.'

While Richard's most noticeable role was in Game Of Thrones from 2011 to 2013, his acting career started at the age of 13 in Barmy Aunt Boomerang.

While for many child stars it would have been an exciting time, Richard confessed that it 'f***** him up.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
