«Breaking News» Bodyguard: Did YOU spot Julia Montague in the finale? Fans believe she IS alive

It's the question that gripped the nation for weeks - is Julia Montague still alive?

And despite the Bodyguard finale seeming to put an end to the theories, eagle-eyed viewers have claimed they spotted Julia (Keeley Hawes) in one of the scenes on Sunday's episode.

With the series creator Jed Mercurio claiming there could now be as many as four seasons of the hit show - which was initially intended to be a stand-alone series - fans are claiming that Julia could soon make her big return.

Home Secretary Julia was killed by a bomb in episode three of the six-part series, yet many viewers believed this was a ruse as we did not see her body.

Now several fans have claimed that they spotted Julia during Sunday's series finale, saying that she was at the window when David Budd (Richard Madden) confronted Chief Superintendent Lorraine Craddock (Pippa Haywood) and crime boss Luke Aitkens (Matt Stokoe).

Taking to Twitter, they posted: 'Is Julia at that window'; 'So, like, who was in the upstairs window in Craddock's house? I was certain it was Julia and when Gina McKee said to David "there's something you need first" she was going to come strutting through the door. Also the car shoulda blown up at the end. #Bodyguard'.

More to come: There could now be as many as four seasons of the hit show - which was initially intended to be a stand-alone series - so Julia could soon make her big return

'Did I just see Julia In the window? #Bodyguard'; 'Where the f**k is Julia montague??? Who was at the window ? I want to find out more !! Hoping for #series2 #Bodyguard'

'In the scene with Luke and Lorraine... Did anyone else think the person at the window above the garage might be Julia? #Bodyguard'; 'Julia was at the window. Series 2 on the cards? #bodyguard'.

Not all were convinced, however, with one user posting: 'All the people tweeting that they thought they saw Julia Montague in the window in the last episode of the #bodyguard I’m not being funny but if that’s the case you’d think they’d have used her actual face if that was the case, looks nothing like her.'

MailOnline has contacted a BBC spokesperson for comment.

Fans won't know for sure if Julia is set to return unless a second season of the hit show is commissioned, yet creator Jed Mercurio has revealed the show could potentially continue.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: 'It's probably fair to say we would probably approach any thoughts of a second series with the idea that it would create an opportunity for a third or fourth.'

He also explained that he wrote the series intending there to only be one season, and that's why all the loose ends were tied up by the end.

Jed revealed: 'If the ratings hadn't been quite so high, then possibly everybody involved including the BBC would have said, "Well that was a nice little series but we're just going to leave it at that and there won't be any more".

'So you are a hostage to fortune in that sense. And we do feel very privileged and fortunate that there's been such a response that it gives us that opportunity to at least think about doing more.'

Even if he wants to do more with Bodyguard though, Jed was quick to admit that it wouldn't happen until he has finished filming Line Of Duty series five.

The writer even revealed that he wouldn't start working on a new series of the intense BBC drama until mid 2019, as he is currently working in Belfast on Line Of Duty until Christmas.

He admitted he wasn't even 'going to speculate on that' because various factors like the script, production schedule, and 'a whole bunch of things' would come into play.

With the ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
