Head of the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command Anne Sampson (played by Gina McKee) is heard opening the episode six teaser with the words: 'A woman was murdered, a crime was committed.'

A flashback of Julia before her death flashes up on screen before her replacement Mike Travis (Vincent Franklin) is seen meeting with MI5 head Stephen Hunter-Dunn (Stuart Bowman).

Mike declares: 'Look no further for Julia's assassin' as a bloodied Budd appeared on screen.

DS Louise Rayburn (Nina Toussaint-White), an ally of Budd's in the investigation, forlornly telling her colleague Deepak (Ash Tandon) that it has been 'an inside man all along'.

Next, sirens whirl as Budd is seen in a dramatic stand-off with armed police. His boss CG Lorraine Craddock (Pippa Haywood) pleads with him to surrender, over walkie talkie: 'Give yourself up,' she tells him.

A bloodied Bud replies 'It's over,' while his estranged wife Vicky (Sophie Rundle) looks shocked and is held back by police.

The trailer ends with a clip of David loading a gun.

The penultimate episode of the Bodyguard left viewers reeling for more after some of the series' biggest questions began to be answered.

In Sunday night's episode of the BBC One drama, the aftermath unravelled of Home Secretary Julia Montague's shock death as police pieced together clues of the puzzle of the BBC drama.

It uncovered that Julia was having secret meetings with the Secret Service about the Prime Minister's sordid past; revealing he'd been accused of sexual assault, battled drug addiction and had committed financial misconduct at an old firm.

Police discovered the bomb that killed Julia had not been in the suitcase after all but planted underneath the stage and a whole hour of CCTV footage of before the attack had mysteriously gone missing.

Budd realised he and his family were being closely watched by the Secret Service, and the episode ended with him being placed on indefinite leave and his weapons confiscated - leaving him vulnerable to whoever was behind the bomb.

The BBC One series has achieved consolidated viewing figures of 10.4 million for its first episode.

This is the highest launch figure for any new drama across all UK channels since 2006, the corporation said.

The series kicked off on August 26, when it scored the highest overnight audience for a drama launch this year by more than one million viewers.

The latest episode added another million viewers in comparison to the week previously, scoring a total of eight million.

Bodyguard concludes on BBC One on Sunday at 9pm.

Budd is accused of being...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
