«Breaking News» Author spends $135,000 to clone his beloved cocker spaniel Daisy after she dies

A grieving author went behind his wife's back to clone his beloved dog for a staggering $135,000.

British national Tom Rubython couldn't fathom a life without his best friend Daisy.

So when the cocker spaniel died in 2014, a grieving Mr Rubython tracked down a Korean laboratory dedicated to cloning canines - Sooam Biotech.

The 63-year-old refrigerated Daisy and took the required skin samples to the laboratory - all while trying to keep it hidden from his wife Beverly.

For the hefty price tag, the cells from Daisy were used to create exact replicas of his beloved pooch.

Mabel and Myrtle are identical to Daisy, who had a black and white coat.

'I sold my cars and made quite a lot of sacrifices to do it. We do crazy things with our money, inexplicable,' Mr Rubython told 60 minutes.

Beverly eventually did find out after discovering medical papers on her husband's desk.

'He's been robbed and they didn't have to hold a gun or wear a mask,' she told him when she found out.

More than 1,117 puppies have been created using an egg harvested from a surrogate dog.

The sample then has its nucleus removed and the DNA from the dead animal is inserted.

A surrogate will then carry the up to 30 of the cloned embryos at a time - to increase the chances of a life birth.

The final step of this process is considered as not only cruel, but ultimately pointless by critics.

'You're not going to reproduce the dog that you lost that was your favourite pet. It just is not going to happen,' stem-cell biologist and geneticist Robin Lovell-Badge told 60 Minutes.

'It's a waste of money. They'd be much better off going to local dog pound, choosing a poor little dog that's been maybe not looked after terribly well, giving it a happy home.'

Despite looking identical, the personalty and temperaments of the animal will be different to the original, he said.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
