«Breaking News» Anthony Joshua shows off brutal gym regime as ahead of Alexander Povetkin Wembley showdown

Anthony Joshua is ready to show the heavyweight boxing division that his skills have become sharper and more refined when he fights Alexander Povetkin at Wembley on Saturday.

That is according to his trainer Rob McCracken, who believes Joshua will face a unique challenge against Povetkin due to the Bulgarian standing at four inches shorter than the Brit at 6ft 2in.

With his Wembley showdown only five days away, where his  WBA, IBF and WBO belts are on the line, Joshua shared a video on Instagram on Monday showing off the lengths he has gone to in the gym.

From squats on the TRX machine to agility work with a medicine ball, Joshua has continued his trademark relentless gym workout to ensure he will be at the peak of his powers on Saturday.

Joshua is also filmed testing his core and neck strength by resisting a trainer pushing against him. As well as training to test and increase his strength, Joshua is filmed on an exercise bike and treadmill, as well going through reaction training.

Joshua captioned the video 'training files' on Instagram.

The 28-year-old is aiming to extend his unbeaten professional record to 22 matches - on September 22 - but despite his size advantage of four inches, McCracken has warned that it doesn't necessarily translate.

'Povetkin is very dogged and awkward and powerful and squat, so he makes it hard for you to find the gaps to hit him with jabs,' McCracken told Sky Sports.

'You've just got to pick your spots with Povetkin, and you've got to avoid his hooks over the top, and he comes in square as well, so that poses certain difficulties as well.'

McCracken believes that, on top of Joshua's physical condition, his in-fight management during rounds is also stepping up his overall level.

'He's improving technically all the time, he's improving in his knowledge and how to box a round, and how to have a breather, and how to tie somebody up, as opposed to fighting for the whole round, so he gets better all the time,' McCracken said.

And should Joshua, as expected, emerge victorious and extend his unbeaten professional record, then McCracken believes he will eventually nail down an agreement to take on Deontay Wilder.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
