«Breaking News» Richard Keys denies wife's claims his affair made daughter's alcoholism worse

Richard Keys has hit back furiously at his estranged wife's claims that his personal life has hindered their daughter's recovery from alcoholism.

The presenter's marriage broke down after it was claimed he was having an affair with Lucie Rose, described as a friend of the couple's daughter Jemma.

His wife Julia, 58, said Jemma could be 'one drink away from death' and claimed the stress of the family drama had made it 'much harder to remain sober', according to the Sun on Sunday. 

But the former Sky Sports host said he had 'tried everything' to help his daughter and had 'never come up short on family matters', saying Lucie Rose had only met Jemma twice.

Julia Keys told the newspaper that she had 'laid in bed planning her daughter's funeral' because of Jemma's struggle with drink. 

The 58-year-old said alcohol was her daughter's only way to cope: 'It's been difficult for us all but mostly for Jemma. She adores her father.

'In terms of it as an emotional trigger, it has definitely made it much harder for her to remain sober.

'Jemma is massively angry and hurt about what happened between her dad and her old friend.' 

Mrs Keys has also discovered that her thyroid cancer has returned after seven years, saying that her illness had added further stress to Jemma.

Responding to the claims, Keys said in a statement that 'Lucie Rose is NOT my daughter's friend', saying they had only met on two occasions.

Keys, who resigned from Sky in 2011, said: 'Sadly my daughter's problems have haunted our family for 15 years or more. 

'Those that know us well would tell you that we have tried everything to help her. We've spent in excess of £250,000 on rehab. I have never come up short on family matters.

'Jemma's issues are at the core of my marriage break-up. My wife and I disagree on her treatment. 

'Quite simply - I refuse to 'enable' her with her problems any further. Those with addictions will understand what I mean.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
