«Breaking News» Halsey SLAMS Victoria's Secret Show following transphobic comments

Halsey has slammed Victoria's Secret after the lingerie brand's chief marketing officer made insensitive comments about transgender models.

The New York native performed at the brand's coveted runway show last month, which was aired on Sunday night in the US, alongside Shawn Mendes, Bebe Rexa and The Chainsmokers.

Despite her participation in the show, Halsey, who is bisexual, took to Instagram after the lingerie special and criticised the retailer for it's lack of 'inclusivity' in regards to trans people, which she stated is 'based on stereotype.'

She wrote: 'I have adored the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since I was young. Performing this year alongside other amazing artists and hardworking models/friends was supposed to be the best night of my year. 

'However, after I filmed the performance, some comments were made regarding the show that I simply cannot ignore.'

Adding: 'As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have no tolerance for a lack of inclusivity. Especially not one motivated by stereotype.'  

The Eastside songstress revealed that she made a 'sizeable' donation to GLSEN, an organization that offers services aimed at protecting LGBTQ+ youth, after what transpired following the show.

'If you’re on my page because you watched my performance tonight, please allow me instead to direct your attention to GLSEN: An organization that offers services aimed at protecting LGBTQ+ youth,' she said.

'And with respect to those youth targeted by these comments in a world where they have been made to feel "other," I have made a sizeable donation in their honor.'

Furthering her point, Halsey concluded her length statement with a pointed dig at Ed Razek, who is CMO of Creative Services for parent company Limited Brands. 

She said: 'If you are a trans person reading this, and these comments have made you feel alienated or invalidated please know that you have allies. We stand in solidarity.

'And complete and total acceptance is the only "fantasy" that I support.'

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has been marred with controversy ever since it was filmed on November 8. 

Following the taping, chief marketing officer of L Brands Ed Razek, 70, spoke to Vogue and said why he thought the brand shouldn't have 'transexuals', which is a term often used negatively toward the trans community, walk in the show.

He told the publication: 'It's like, why doesn't your show do this? Shouldn't you have transsexuals in the show? 

'No. No, I don't think we should. "Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It's a 42-minute entertainment special. That's what it is.'

Following the interview, Victoria's Secret then published a statement from Razek, who said sorry for the way his interview was received.

He added that the brand had been open to seeing transgender models but it just so happened none had scored a job with them so far.

'My remark regarding the inclusion of transgender models in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show came across as insensitive. I apologize,' he said.

'To be clear, we absolutely would cast a transgender model for the show. We've had transgender models come to castings… And like many others, they didn't make it… But it was never about gender.

'I admire and respect their journey to embrace who they really are.'

Then CEO Jan Singer resigned less than two weeks after the taping of this special amid declining sales and ratings.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
