A 29-year-old graffiti artist has died after being electrocuted on a railway line.

Grant Hamilton, who was known as 'Mode', died in the tragedy at Dumbreck train station in Glasgow after suffering serious injuries early on Tuesday.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at about 1am, and a second man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing on the railway and vandalism.

Street art by Mr Hamilton remains on the walls of south Glasgow - and his works often had the tag 'WMD', which is thought to be a graffiti crew's name.

Tributes have been made on Facebook, with Josh Hicks posting: 'At times Grant gave me the fear, but would never have wished death on him.  Rest in peace Grant / Mode WMD. Hope the family, friends and crew are doing OK.'

Glasgow-based spray paint store Mainline posted on their Facebook page: 'Sad news today. RIP Mode WMD. Thoughts go out to all family, crew and close ones. Brings home the reality of painting graffiti in risky places. Stay safe out there.'

Shannon Love wrote: 'My boy, true legend' – and Ste Switzer added: 'Legend in Glasgow. Rest in paint, bro.' Others posted pictures of art by Mr Hamilton.

Mr Hamilton lived in Renfrewshire, reported the Daily Record. At his parents' house in Glasgow's Penilee last night, family were too upset to talk about the tragedy.

Rush hour trains were affected yesterday morning despite the line being reopened around 6am. The route links Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: 'Shortly after 1am on December 4, officers from British Transport Police were called to the line close to Dumbreck, Glasgow following reports that a person had been injured on the tracks.

'Officers attended the location alongside colleagues from Police Scotland and the ambulance service, however, a 29-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining serious injuries believed to be caused by electrocution.

'His family have been informed. The man's death is not currently being treated as suspicious and a report will be made for the Procurator Fiscal.

'A 29-year-old man, from Glasgow, was arrested on suspicion of trespass and vandalism. He has since been released with no further action being taken.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
