«Breaking News» Gogglebox star Andrew Bennett 'rushed to HOSPITAL after shock assault during night out'

Gogglebox star Andrew Bennett has been reportedly rushed to hospital after being violently assaulted during a night out, according to The Sun.

A source close to the star said he was taken into Sunderland Royal hospital on Saturday after being attacked, as he enjoyed an evening with his friends and family.

Andrew has been a regular feature on the Channel 4 favourite since September this year, alongside best friend Fawn from their home in South Shields.

The source said: 'He was attacked in the early hours of the morning on Saturday.

'He'd been out with his family and friends and was jumped while walking down the street. He had some really nasty injuries and is still in hospital.

'He's really shocked but is determined to catch the person who attacked him and reported it to police the next morning from hospital.'

A representative for Northumbria also confirmed that a person matching Andrew's description to taken to hospital with minor injuries, and an investigation is ongoing. 

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Channel 4 and Northumbria Police for further comment.

Andrew has been absent from social media in the wake of the attack, with his last post coming on Friday as he teased the latest Gogglebox episode, along with a snap of him and Fawn with shocked expressions.

The caption read: 'Hope you all enjoy and the Ice and a slice is @ the ready #fawndrew.'

He has been a regular on Gogglebox since he joined the show for its current 12th series in September, chatting about all manner of TV favourites alongside best friend Fawn.

Known for their regular consumption of gin and tonics in enormous glasses, the duo have left viewers in hysterics with their hilarious put-downs of shows from Dynasties to Drowning in Plastic. 

It remains to be seen whether Andrew will still make an appearance on the show this coming Friday (December 7th).

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
