«Breaking News» Emily Blunt is stylish in green as she promotes Mary Poppins Returns

Her highly anticipated film Mary Poppins Returns will come to UK screens on Friday.

And Emily Blunt has been hard at work promoting the sequel to the iconic 1964 film starring Julie Andrews.

The actress, 35, looked radiant as ever as she arrived to the set of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in New York City on Monday.

The Devil Wears Prada star donned a flowing green trench coat as she made her way to the studio.

She paired it with a black jumper with diamond and striped detail and matching gingham high-waisted pants with flared legs. She topped off the look with a silver necklace and a pair of heels.

In the new film, set two decades after the original, Mary Poppins returns to the home of Jane and Michael Banks, the children whom she cared for in the first movie, after a family tragedy.

Along with Emily, the film also stars Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack, a cockney lamplighter.

Colin Firth stars as William 'Weatherall' Wilkinsm the current president of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank and Meryl Streep plays Topsy, Mary Poppins' eccentric Eastern European cousin. 

It has won rave reviews from critics, with both the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute selecting it as one of the top 10 films of 2018.

Emily revealed that her role in Mary Poppins Returns ups her 'cool factor' with her daughters Hazel, 4, and Violet, 2, who she shares with husband John Krasinski.

Making an appearance on Good Morning America, she said: 'Well my daughter quite likes me to do the voice for her sometimes, I think my cool factor hits the sky when I do that.

'She’ll say "do your Mary Poppins voice" and I’ll say "spit spot and off we go" and she literally goes [Emily gasps] she loves it. 

The actress then joked: 'I’m going to dine out on that until they become teenagers and I become inevitably uncool.' 

Emily previously revealed that she didn't rewatch the original Mary Poppins film, and admitted it was because she 'didn't want to be intimidated by it'.

But the Londoner did watch the classic again after she had finished filming, as she said: 'I watched it thinking thank god I didn’t watch this before otherwise I would have been like "Rob [Marshall, the film's director], I’m out, recast it!"'

Praise: Mary Poppins Returns has won rave reviews from critics, with both the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute selecting it as one of the top 10 films of 2018

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
