«Breaking News» Clubbers use their phones to film the moment Specials singer's 21-year-old grandson was stabbed

Newly released CCTV footage from the night of Fidel Glasgow's murder shows clubbers using their mobiles to film the attack that killed him.

The shocking footage released by West Midlands Police shows huge swathes of people running away from a fracas that culminates in several bodies on the floor, and Glasgow's fatal wound.

In one clip released by West Midlands Police, Fidel is seen being chased by a gang, including one holding a baseball bat, who sprint after him down the street.

Fidel runs behind a car but is fatally stabbed before the thugs continue sprinting away.

One hoodie-wearing yob is seen holding what appears to be a knife moments after the

killing as the group of men fall over each other as they flee.

He was found at the rear of Club M on Croft Road in the city centre in September but later died at University Hospital Coventry.

Atikou Diallo, 23, has been charged with wounding a 23-year-old man who was also attacked - but Fidel's killer remains at large.

The 21-year-old's grieving family, including his grandfather - The Specials frontman Neville Staple, also made a fresh appeal to anyone who might know something about his killing to come forward.

Speaking at a police press conference, where Detective Superintendent Matt Markham admitted progress with finding the killer was slow, the young man's mother Melanie Staple said: 'Somebody out there knows something.'

She also said life is 'horrrendous' for her right now before adding: 'We haven't just had to deal with the loss of my son, we have to deal with not knowing who did it.

'Have they come to the funeral or have they offered their condolences?'

'Everyone is putting on a brave face but behind closed doors it's a completely different story,' she added.

Det Supt Matt Markham, leading the investigation, urged anyone with information to 'think about that evening for Fidel's family and the kind of Christmas they will be having'.

Fidel's other grandfather Michael Anderson, 58, said: 'Fidel was a positive youth. He was a fun, always joking, happy-go-lucky kid.

'To me, if you are not coming forward, you are defending the person who has done it.

'If you saw it, and you can go home and lie down in your bed every night knowing that you have seen it, you are just as bad as the person who did it if you don't come forward.

'Why should you be frightened to come forward?

'Are we defending the killers now?'

Police said they were speaking to hundreds of witnesses but progress is slow on finding leads

West Midlands Police held a press conference at the force's Lloyd House HQ in September, which was attended by 63-year-old Neville, his wife Christine Sugary, and Fidel's cousin, Kofi Staple.

The Specials frontman Neville Staple called on witnesses to his grandson's fatal stabbing to 'grass up' the killer.

The 'Ghost Town' singer said the death of Fidel Glasgow had left him 'numb'.

Neville said: 'I am numb. If anybody was there or seen anything you don't have to worry about anyone saying anything to the police or grassing if they do it anonymously.

'Its best that if whoever was there can just come forward. There was a lot people who tried to help by stepping in and those are the people we need to come forward - if they did it would be brilliant.

'Fidel was a lovely guy, he was a bright and smiley youngster. We used to have a lot of fun and he even asked me to help to start his own clothing line.

'Our message to people out there would be if you feel like to need to carry a knife when you go out, then don't go out.

'Go do something else instead. At the moment I can't even talk because it's so shocking. It is tragic.'

His wife Christine said: 'We are hoping people do come forward because as a family we don't know what's happened.

'So as a family we are trying to keep it together and highlight this tragedy. It hurts. It hurts like hell.

'Fidel's mother Melanie is not coping very well, she's had a lot of support and love, but she just wants to know why as well.

'We would also like to thank the hospital they did everything they could to save Fidel - they were even crying with us.

'I think it's becoming a war zone out there on the streets. That is why we go to the schools and communities to speak to people about these issues.

'If you carry knives there is the risk it will be used on you, or you're going to use it on someone else out of fear.

'You're going to end up being a murderer, or you'll end up dead. It's just not worth it.

'It is everybody's responsibility. How many parents are checking and talking to their kids about it.

'There are a lot of kids in gangs who don't want it but don't know how to get out of it.'

Appealing for anyone with information to get in touch, she added: 'Come forward, speak to us, let us know what happened.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
