«Breaking News» Oscars 2019: Rami Malek and Bohemian Rhapsody win big

Rami Malek took home top acting honors at Sunday's Academy Awards.

But before accepting his honor, he reveled in his win by planting a passionate kiss on girlfriend/castmate Lucy Boynton's lips.

Taking the stage, the Bohemian Rhapsody star, 37, professed his love for the actress, telling the world: 'Lucy, you're the heart of this film. You are beyond immensely talented. You have captured my heart.'

Rami's speech started on an inspirational note, as he admitted his younger self would have had his 'mind blown' if he'd realized he would one day be picking up the coveted statuette.

He told audiences: 'I think about what it would have been like to tell little bubba Rami that one day this might happen to him and I think his curly-haired little mind would be blown.

'That kid was struggling with his identity, and I think anyone struggling with theirs and trying to find their voice, a film about a gay man an immigrant who lived his life unapologetically and the fact I'm celebrating him and his story is proof we are longing for stories like this.

'I'm the son of immigrants from Egypt, I'm a first generation American and part of my story is being written right now and I could not be more grateful to each and every one of you and everyone who believed in me for this moment, it is something I will treasure for the rest of my life.'

Rami beat Christian Bale (Vice), Bradley Cooper (A Star is Born), Viggo Mortensen (Green Book) and Willem Dafoe (At Eternity's Gate) to take the honor.

But after his win, Rami suffered a minor mishap when he tripped and fell while making his way back to his front row seat. His trip was serious enough to warrant a visit from medical staff.

It was a big night for Bohemian Rhapsody, which ended up taking home four of the five awards it was nominated for.

John Ottman took home the Best Film Editing honor, while team Paul Massey, Tim Cavagin and John Casali earned the Best Sound Mixing honor. The film also won Best Sound Editing for John Warhurst and Nina Hartstone.

The film failed to take home the Best Picture award, however. That trophy went to Green Book.

At the top of the show, the audience was treated to a performance by none other than Queen. Lead by replacement singer Adam Lambert, the band performed a medley of their greatest hits.

The group absolutely brought down the house, as the A-list crowd leapt to their feet and sang along.

While Rami was poised for success at the show, he already looked like a winner when he and Lucy hit the red carpet of the Dolby Theatre earlier in the evening.

While the leading man, 37, went for a dapper look in a classic black tuxedo, his co-star and girlfriend, 25, was a stand out in silky purple Rodarte.

Lucy looked lovely in a lush orchid colored frock which hung off her shoulders and was trimmed with black velvet bows. She added some sparkle with diamond earrings and a eye-catching ring.

The Gypsy actress went for old Hollywood glamour up top, styling her platinum tresses in a subtle take on peek-a-boo waves.

The actor confirmed his relationship with Lucy when he won the Breakthrough Artist Award at the 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival's Film Awards Gala.

During his speech, he thanked the London-raised actress by saying: 'Thank you, Lucy Boynton. You have been my ally, my confidante, my love.

Rami was a favorite to win the Best Actor awards. The Freddie Mercury biopic also earned him trophies at the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and the BAFTAs.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
