Princess Eugenie was left 'very touched' by letters she received applauding her decision to put her back operation scar on display on her wedding day.
Her bridal gown, designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, was created with a low back at Eugenie's request to show a long scar from a procedure to correct scoliosis - curvature of the spine - when she was 12.
The Queen's granddaughter describes in audio commentary, for a new Windsor Castle exhibition about her wedding day outfits, how girls going through the same procedure wrote to her after her gesture, aimed at breaking down the 'taboo' around scars.
Eugenie says in the commentary: 'I had always wanted a low back, part of it was showing my scar and I believe scars tell a story about your past and your future and it's a way of getting rid of a taboo.

It's was the second Royal wedding of 2018, and the second time we fell head over heels in love with a big white dress.
When wondering who might make Princess Eugenie's bridal gown there were plenty of names in the mix. Erdem, Ralph & Russo, Stella McCartney...
But as she stepped out of the car and headed into St. George's Chapel it was announced that her beautiful dress was the work of Peter Pilotto. It's a million miles away from the designer's signature bold prints, but she is a big fan of the label.
We love the elgant long sleeves, jacquard fabric and slightly off shoulder shape with fold over detailing. The voluminous skirt and dramatic train are very regal and when teamed with the Queen Mother's Greville emerald tiara and Charlotte Olympia shoes, it was everything we expected and so much more.

'For me it's a way of communicating with people who are going through either similar situations with scoliosis, or having a scar of their own, that they are trying to deal with.
'We started getting a lot of letters from people who were happy that I had stood up and showed my scar, and people with scoliosis, letters from girls that are going through the same thing, and I definitely was very touched by everyone's support.'
Eugenie, daughter of the Duke of York, married Jack Brooksbank at St George's Chapel on October 12.
The fabric of her gown included symbols which were significant to the princess, such as the White Rose of York, interwoven with ivy, representing the couple's marriage and their future together.
American designer Zac Posen created the princess's blush-coloured silk chiffon gown with a cape, for the black-tie evening event at the York family home, Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.

The princess says: 'I wanted something reminiscent of Grace Kelly in To Catch A Thief so I showed that for reference and Zac came up with this silk that he had found from Manchester.
'Every single draping effect, every single detail, every button is all painstakingly done by him and his team.'
Despite being a princess, Eugenie admits her wedding day was the first time she had worn a tiara - the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara lent by the Queen - complemented by diamond and emerald drop earrings.
She says: 'It was the most incredible thing to wear such a piece of history that my grandmother had lent me, very proud moment and the beautiful earrings were a gift from my husband.'

The royal wedding exhibition includes Eugenie's wedding gown - which has a neckline that folds around the shoulders to a low back, which drapes into a flowing full-length train - as well as the tiara, evening gown, Jack Brooksbank's morning suit, and Princess Beatrice's maid-of-honour outfit.
Also on show are the outfits of bridesmaid Theodora, daughter of Robbie Williams, and Louis de Givenchy - one of the pageboys.
On the wedding day Prince George and Princess Charlotte were also among the young helpers.
A Royal Wedding: HRH Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank is part of a visit to Windsor Castle from March 1 to April 22.

Princess Eugenie teamed the regal dress, which was complete with voluminous skirt and dramatic train, with the Queen Mother's Greville emerald tiara and Charlotte Olympia shoes.
The tiara was made by Boucheron in 1921 and the centre emerald was an impressive 93.70 carats.

The Zac Posen blush pink dress Princess Eugenie's wore to her evening reception at Royal Lodge Windsor will also be displayed during the new exhibition.

In stark contrast, her sister Princess Beatrice opted for bold blue in a silk-wool crepe two-piece, which featured an off-the-shoulder neckline, peplum waist, three-quarter sleeves and a pleated skirt.
She teamed her striking ensemble with a pair of Ralph & Russo's 'Empire' heels and their 'Alina' dove grey clutch - not forgetting an elegant Sarah Cant hat.

But the attention wasn't all on the royal couple as they tied the knot as Eugenie enlisted several youngsters to act as her flower girls including Princess Charlotte, three, sisters Savannah, seven, and Isla Philips, six, Mia Tindall, four, Maud Windsor, five, and Theodora Williams, six.'
Meanwhile, Prince George, five and Louis de Givenchy, six, gave a helping hand as pageboys.
Their sweet outfits, which were designed by Amaia Kids, will also be placed side by side for public viewing.

Who are the designers behind Peter Pilotto?
German-Austrian designer Peter Pilotto (left) and Christopher de Vos met at the University of Antwerp in 2000 and are now based in London
Half-German, half-Austrian Peter Pilotto studied at Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Art where he met half-Peruvian, half-Belgian Christopher de Vos in 2000.
Christopher was 19 at the time and Peter, 23, and the pair became friends, bonding over their shared love of design.
The friendship turned romantic and they've now been a couple for 18 years.
In 2004, Pilotto graduated and launched his eponymous label, which was immediated bought by trend-setting Parisian store Maria Luisa as well as some Japanese retailers.
The early boost from Maria Luisa boosted the label's profile on the European fashion scene.
After graduation in 2005, De Vos moved to London and Pilotto followed two years later, and the pair decided to collaborate.
They quickly became known for their statement prints, using the technique of digital printing that was previously used on low price t-shirts and tracksuits, on luxury fabrics.
In 2009, they won a British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent, followed by a British Fashion Council/Vogue Fashion Fund award of £200,000.
Their eye-popping prints have made them a hit with celebrities, with stars such as Lupita Nyong'o, Emma Roberts, Alexa Chung, Anna Friel, and Naomie Harris wearing their designs.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
