«Breaking News» United Airlines brings back the stroopwafel after a swap to maple wafers sparked uproar

United Airlines has brought back the stroopwafel as an on board snack after a swap to maple wafers in June sparked customer uproar.

Travelers reacted with joy after the carrier announced the sweet treat would be making a comeback 'in the snack rotation starting in January'.

In response one passenger tweeted: 'Loved these, can't wait for them to be back.'

Another said they were their 'favorite reason for taking a morning flight' while one called them the 'best snack' ever served by the airline.

One woman even said she served them at her wedding.

She tweeted: 'My now-husband had his first stroopwafel on our first trip together and he got so hooked, we served them at our wedding a couple years later. Thank you for bringing them back!'

In June customers reacted with fury to the news United would be cutting stroopwafels from its on-board food offering on certain flights.

One tweeted 'shame on you' at the carrier and another said 'you can lose my suitcases but don't take my stroopwafel'.

The Dutch treat was introduced on United flights in February 2016.

They are waffles made from two thin layers of baked dough with a caramel syrup filling in the middle and was often offered to customers for free on morning services.

It comes just days after United announced it would be selling a cookbook with 40 recipes for dishes they serve at 30,000 feet.

The United Polaris Cookbook promises to include 'a collection of mouthwatering recipes inspired by the United Polaris onboard dining experience.'

The Chicago-based carrier had replaced the snack with a new product, a maple wafer cookie made especially by the Byrd Cookie Company.

A United spokeswoman said: 'We are excited to welcome the Stroopwafel back into our inflight snack rotation, and will rotate the Stroopwafel, as well as our other morning inflight snacks, throughout the year to continually appeal to a broad customer palate.'

They told the Houston Chronicle the airline always intended to bring back the stroopwafel.

They said it was part of a snack rotation designed to 'continue to appeal to a broad palate.'

The removal of tomato juice caused a similar furore.

Fliers moaned about the loss of the fruity beverage and just a day after the controversy the drink was reinstated.

United said on Twitter: 'You say tomato. We say, we hear you. Tomato juice is here to stay. #letscallthewholethingoff.'

The exact amount can not say because there are many nuances. It will be necessary to build a small laboratory with certain parameters. To all interested persons please write on an email angocman@gmail.com . It is the scientific project and I do not know whether it is possible to earn on it. The probability of success of the project is approximately 60%. That will be very interesting.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
