President Donald Trump slammed Democrats as the 'party of late term abortion' after the governor of Virginia got caught up in a battle in his state over legislation that would allow a pregnancy to be terminated during labor.
'Democrats are becoming the Party of late term abortion, high taxes, Open Borders and Crime!,' the president tweeted Thursday morning.
Trump and other prominent Republicans were outraged at the remarks made by Ralph Northam, the Democratic governor of Virginia, who suggested that a pregnancy could be terminated during the baby's birth.

Gov. Northam, a pediatric neurologist, tweeted back his own response, arguing he has spent his life caring for kids
Northam made the shocking remarks in an interview with WTOP-FM on Wednesday, when he was asked the debate in the state legislature over a bill that would relax restrictions on third trimester abortions.
'If a mother is in labor. I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated, if that's what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,' he said.
He went on to add: 'We want the government not to be involved in these types of decisions. We want the decisions to be done by the mothers and the providers. And this is why … legislatures, most of whom are men by the way, shouldn't be telling a woman what to do about her body.'
He noted third trimester abortions require the consent of the mother and more than one doctor.
'When we talk about third trimester abortions these are done with the consent of the mother, with the consent of the physicians obviously - more than one physicians by the way - and it's done in cases of severe deformities, where the fetus is nonviable,' he said.
Trump told the Daily Caller he was surprised to hear Northam's stance.
'I'm surprised that he did that, I've met him a number of times,' Trump said, noting he hadn't yet heard Northam's remarks.
And he said it would energize the pro-life movement.
'This is going to lift up the whole pro-life movement like maybe it's never been lifted up before. The pro-life movement is very much a 50-50, it's a very 50-50 issue, actually it's gained a point or two over the years,' he said.
Governor Ralph Northam (seen last week), a Democrat, made the shocking remarks in an interview with WTOP-FM on Wednesday
Republicans pounded on his remarks Wednesday and a fury of tweets from conservatives accused the governor of 'infanticide.'
'VA Governor Ralph Northam says infants w 'deformities' may be candidates for abortion - AFTER birth. 'The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable ... and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.' That's called infanticide,' tweeted Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley.
'This is horrific,' wrote Republican National Committee Chairman Ronna McDaniel of his comments.
'I never thought I would see the day America had government officials who openly support legal infanticide,' wrote Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio.
Northam, a pediatric neurologist, tweeted back his own response, arguing he has spent his life caring for kids.
'I have devoted my life to caring for children and any insinuation otherwise is shameful and disgusting,' he wrote.
Republicans pounced on Northam's remarks
And his office released a statement clarifying his comments applied to a situation where a woman faced a 'nonviable pregnancy or severe fetal abnormalities.'
'The governor's comments were limited to the actions physicians would take in the event that a woman [facing nonviable pregnancy or severe fetal abnormalities] went into labor,' said Northam spokesman Ofirah Yheskel.
The controversy began when Northam was asked to respond to remarks made on Tuesday by Democratic Delegate Kathy Tran, video of which went viral, sparking fury.
In the video, Republican Delegate Todd Gilbert asks Tran whether her legislation would let a pregnant woman who is dilating request an abortion if a doctor certified that the woman's mental health was impaired.
'That would be a decision that the doctor, the physician and the woman would make at that point,' she said.
Pressed on the matter, she conceded: 'My bill would allow that yes.'
On Wednesday afternoon, the bill was defeated in committee on a party-line vote.
Trump told the Daily Caller he had seen the video of Tran's comments.
'I thought it was terrible,' he said, adding, 'Do you remember when I said Hillary Clinton was willing to rip the baby out of the womb? That's what it is, that's what they're doing, it's terrible.'
Existing Virginia state law does not put an absolute time limit on abortions and Tran's legislation did not alter that.
Her legislation would reduce the number of doctors who would have to certify late-term abortions are needed from three to one.
It would also delete the requirement that doctors determine that continuing a pregnancy would 'substantially and irremediably' impair a woman's health. Instead doctors would only have to certify that the woman's health was impaired.
Virginia Democratic Delegate Kathy Tran (left) proposed a bill for abortions up until the moment of delivery to the Republican House majority leader on Monday
Supporters said the changes in law would help reduce the bureaucratic burdens women face when dealing with difficult decisions involving late-term abortions, which often involve serious medical complications.
'We must trust women and their health care providers,' Tran said at a Monday subcommittee hearing, where her exchange with Gilbert was recorded.
Opponents of the legislation, which has failed in both the state House and Senate, said it would give essentially allow for late abortions on demand.
Prominent Republicans and conservative media outlets helped spread the video exchange to a wide audience, with more than 2 million views as of Wednesday.
'This is insanity. Seems like advocating for Post Term Abortion AKA MURDER by any standard I'm aware of,' Don Trump Jr said of Northam's remarks.
'What is happening in our country. This literally makes me sick to my stomach,' tweeted Nikki Haley, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, in response to the video.
Former Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin said of Northam's remarks: 'Those who never imagined society would actually get there - state governments sanctioning infanticide - must logically understand what gets accepted next #deathpanels.'
The controversy came the same week that a new law in New York was passed allowing abortions up until birth.
Kentucky's Governor Matt Bevin was also motivated to tweet about the proposed legislation.
'First New York, and now a proposed Virginia bill that would legalize abortion up to the moment of birth... This is a sad commentary on the culture of death that continues to creep insidiously into the laws of our county...' Bevin wrote.
Yheskel, the governor's spokeswoman, said Northam was only trying to describe the 'tragic or difficult circumstances' involved in a late-term abortion.
'Attempts to extrapolate these comments otherwise is in bad faith and underscores exactly why the governor believes physicians and women, not legislators, should make these difficult and deeply personal medical decisions,' she said.

‘Democrats are becoming the Party of late term ...
It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
