Rock star Richey Edwards could still be alive despite conclusions that he killed himself, it has been claimed.
The Manic Street Preachers guitarist is thought to have died by jumping off the Severn Bridge in Bristol in February 1995 aged 27 after he disappeared and his car was found nearby two weeks later.
But there have been dozens of 'sightings' over the past 24 years across the world, and a new book claims he was obsessed with the 'perfect disappearance'.
Withdrawn Traces co-authors Sara Hawys Roberts and Leon Noakes have spoken to the guitarist's close friends - including his younger sister Rachel, who believes he is still alive, and examined his old diaries and school books.
Friends revealed his favourite film was Eddie And The Cruisers, a 1983 release starring Tom Berenger and Michael Paré about claims that a rock band's long-lost leader could still be alive.
Edwards is also said to have enjoyed The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin, the 1970s BBC TV sitcom starring Leonard Rossiter as Reggie, who faked his own death.

Ms Roberts told The Sun : 'Knowing how intelligent he was, if anybody was going to stage a disappearance he would certainly be the person who would have been more than capable.
'As the band themselves have said, Richard was very adept at dramatic symbolism. He used to think a lot about the books he would read, the things he would say, what he'd give out in interviews.
'With all the books and all the different things he'd left and all the things he had spoken about before going missing, there were symbolic things in there that would lead you to think, 'Oh, yeah, he did plan his disappearance'.'
In February last year, his family told how new evidence had revealed they had spent 23 years appealing for information about the wrong times over his disappearance.

In their search for answers, Edwards's family spent more than two decades believing the rocker crossed the Severn Bridge at 2.55pm on February 1, 1995.
The Metropolitan Police told the family that he had checked out of a London hotel at 7am and driven across the Severn Bridge later that afternoon.
But new evidence suggested he crossed the bridge at 2.55am - leaving a 12-hour gap in information - but it is unclear if this was 12 hours earlier or later than thought.
In 2008, his parents Graham and Sherry Edwards - who have both since died - were granted a court order for their son to be presumed dead.

The move was said to have been 'hugely emotional' for the other three band members - James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore - who still dedicate songs to Edwards hoping he might one day return.

In 1997, a college lecturer claimed to have seen Edwards getting on a bus in the hippy resort of Goa, India.
The following year, a barmaid in the Canary Islands told how one customer had run for the door after being told: 'You're Richey from the Manic Street Preachers.'
Because Edwards died without leaving a will, and had no spouse or children, his estate of £455,990, reduced after death duties to £377,548, was inherited by his parents.
Edwards spent much of his adult life suffering from depression, anorexia and bouts of self-mutilation. In 1991, he used a razor to carve '4Real' on to his arm in front of a journalist - an attempt to prove his artistic convictions.
But friends insisted he was not the type to contemplate suicide. And in 1994, he was quoted as saying: 'In terms of the S word, that does not enter my mind.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
