«Breaking News» Shalyha Ahmad is found safe and says she was never missing

A Chicago college student who was reported missing by her family has walked into a police station to explain that she was never in any danger.

University of Illinois at Chicago freshman Shalyha Ahmad, 18, told police that 'she was safe and never missing', Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said on Thursday in a statement.

The department has closed the missing persons case on the teen, Gugliemi said.

It followed her family's desperate televised appeal for her safe return at a press conference on Wednesday.

Family members said they hadn't been able to contact Shalyha since dropping her off at the Jefferson Blue Line station on Chicago's northwest side on December 14.

There were reports that students sighted her around 11am that day on the school's campus on the near west side of the city, but she hadn't been spotted publicly since.

When Shalyha's family arrived to pick her up from the student center later on December 14 as planned, she was nowhere to be found.

The family tried tracking the teen's Samsung phone and her Chrome book, but both devices were turned off, WLS-TV reported.

Back at home, the family found that none of Shalyha's personal items were missing, including her passport, which was still in her room.

The teen also did not respond to messages her family sent her on Facebook, which they normally used to keep in touch.

Shalyha's mother said she received an anonymous tip that her daughter may be with friends from the Filipino community at UIC.

'We are really worried about her at this point,' her mother Shetti Fatima Ahmad said in an emotional appeal at a press conference on Wednesday. 'We are hoping that she is safe wherever she is.'

'I'm just trying to appeal to all the people to help us finding our daughter,' the mother said. 'Any information would really help us. We are really worried about her at this point. Call us or call 911 or call the TV stations, if you have any information.'

At times overcome by tears, the mother made a direct appeal to her daughter in Tausug, a language spoken in the Filipino village where the family is from.

'You can come home when you're ready, just try to call us and... tell us that you're safe,' the worried mother said.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
