«Breaking News» Golden Globes: Christian Bale's 'fake' British accent mocked by fans

He stunned viewers as he thanked 'Satan' while accepting his award during the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards at California's Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday.

And Christian Bale continued to send fans wild as they claimed he putting on the 'worst Cockney accent ever' during his acceptance speech for his role as Dick Cheney in the film Vice.

The Welsh-born actor, 44, who took home for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, caused social media users to take to Twitter in their droves as they commented on his 'odd' voice.

Fans were left confused as they listened to his speech, where he credited 'Satan' for inspiration to play the role.

One commented: 'christian bale you dont have to keep acting rn on stage accepting this award this fake british accent is hilarious tho'. [sic].

In agreement, another penned: 'no British person has ever seemed like they are doing a terrible fake British accent as much as Christian Bale.'

'Christian Bale does so many great accents but his real accent sounds like me trying to do his accent. #goldenglobes', a third reasoned.

During his speech, the American Psycho star said: 'Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration for playing this role,' an apparent snub to the former vice president.

The political satire shows an unrecognizable Bale as Cheney, depicting the previous second-in-command as the ruthless mastermind behind George W Bush's presidency, which has gotten the film large criticism by conservatives.

While Christian portrays the role of the American native, fans struggled to separate the actor from his character.

'Christian Bale’s real accent sounds very fake after watching Vice (which I very much enjoyed) #GoldenGlobes', one Twitter used penned.

Another wrote: 'I love the crazy accent Christian Bale puts on whenever he accepts awards. So fun. #GoldenGlobes'.

'christian bale is a fake british person and that is my #GoldenGlobes tweet' [sic], a third joked.

The actor's comment got plenty of laughs from Hollywood's elite, as he continued to joke politics saying, 'What do you think, [playing] Mitch McConnell next?'

The line gained the appreciation of the Church of Satan, who wrote on Twitter: 'To us, Satan is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential. As Mr. Bale's own talent and skill won him the award, this is fitting. Hail Christian! Hail Satan!'

Moving away from his comedic display, Christian thanked his two children, Emmaline, 13, and Joseph, four, as well as his wife Sibi Blazic, 48.

He gushed: 'She knows the dumb crap that can come out of my mouth at times. I can sink and ruin a perfectly good movie and so-so career in one speech. So thank you for that advice, my love.'

In favour: The Church of Satan tweeted Bale's praise at his comment, writing 'Hail Christian! Hail Satan!'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
