«Breaking News» Feds find funds to reopen landmark bell tower attached to Trump's DC hotel despite shutdown

The Trump administration has located funding to reopen the historic clock tower that tops the president's luxury hotel despite the government shutdown.

The public maintains access to the clock and bell tower of the Old Post Office despite the Trump Organization's 60-year lease with the government to run a hotel inside the historic building.

It continues to be an attraction for hotel guests and residents alike, and is normally open for free tours throughout the week.

But the tower was shuttered Dec. 22 at the beginning of the partial government shutdown due to a lapse in funding that shuttered National Parks across the country, which operates it.

It as just one of many cites closing amid a standoff that has led the National Zoo in Washington and Smithsonian buildings to close their doors to the public.

Now, another federal entity, the General Service Agency, has stepped in with funds to reopen the tower, E&E News reported.

The funds will cover a void in National Park Service Funding. It was one of many of several agencies that furloughed employees and lost funding amid a government standoff centered on President Trump's demand for $5 billion for a border wall.

The agency is the same one that inked the long-term lease with the Trump Organization. Trump regularly praised the agency during his 2016 campaign even when he was calling for dramatic changes at other departments.

Other National Park Service entities have made efforts to remain open to the public in some capacity – either by allowing state governments to provide funding, accepting help from volunteers, and simply leaving checkpoints unmanned.

But in the case of the tower, some amount of funding was required to keep it open. It is set to open Friday, according to the report.

In another twist, the bells inside the tower, known as the Congress Bells, are set to ring Thursday night to usher in the 116th Congress, where a new Democratic House is set to investigate Trump.

The bells were a gift to Congress from the Ditchley Foundation, according to the Washington Ringing Society, whose members carry out the English change ringing at both the iconic D.C. landmark building and the National Cathedral.

The group is set to to ring the bells at 7:00 pm Thursday.

The exact amount can not say because there are many nuances. It will be necessary to build a small laboratory with certain parameters. To all interested persons please write on an email angocman@gmail.com . It is the scientific project and I do not know whether it is possible to earn on it. The probability of success of the project is approximately 60%. That will be very interesting.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
