«Breaking News» Bin men save homeless woman's life when they find her sleeping rough in recycling bin

This is the shocking moment a young woman is found sleeping inside a wheelie bin by council workers - just as it was about to be emptied into a rubbish truck.

The rough sleeper - who appeared to be no older than a teenager - was discovered sheltering under a heap of cardboard in the 1100-litre bin while the crew did its rounds in Brixton, south London.

A quick-thinking employee spotted the fur lining of the woman's coat after lifting the lid and alerted colleagues - potentially saving her from being crushed by heavy machinery.

Heartbreaking footage of the incident was shared anonymously on social media on Friday and has been viewed more than 15,000 times.

It shows the young hooded woman looking forlornly up at the camera as the employee opens the bin and finds her huddled beneath the cardboard.

He says: 'Come on, you can't stay in the bin, sweetie. It's dangerous in there. Very dangerous, please.'

She makes no reply as she starts packing her things into a JD Sports bag.

She seems disoriented, searching around the bin for something in vain but the man says 'take your time, take your time'.

As she climbs out of the bin he tells her: 'It's very dangerous for you, okay? Next time please don't do that again.'

He then turns to a colleague and says: 'We saved a life.'

Viewers on social media were distressed by the scenes.

Rukhsana Parveen said: 'So sad. Feel sick and wish I could help.'

Rabia Aleem wrote: 'Hats off to the bin man. He noticed and saved her life.'

Mohammed Shoueb Khan said: 'It is really a shame that this is still happening in the 21st century. That is really bad, could have been really worse.'

Umar Zamman added: 'She is someone's daughter, imagine if that was your child. Government should be ashamed.'

Last month, Apprentice star Michelle Dewberry shamed a Lambeth Council worker for confiscating a homeless man's possessions at a park in south London.

She chastised the employee and urged him not to throw away the man's sleeping bag and umbrella, but he refused and drove away after packing the items into a rubbish bag.

Councillor Paul Gadsby, Lambeth Cabinet Member for Housing, defended the worker at the time - saying the rough sleeper had repeatedly refused offers of help.

Lambeth Council has been approached for comment on the latest incident.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
