«Breaking News» Twitter takes down half a million accounts over child sexual exploitation fears in just half a year

Twitter took down almost half a million accounts over child sexual exploitation fears in just six months, it emerged yesterday.

The social media giant said it was determined to stamp out sexual abuse of children and said it would not 'tolerate' such material.

But the figures illustrate the reams of content uploaded each day as charities warn abusers are resorting to more sophisticated techniques to avoid detection.

The platform said 97 per cent of the posts were rooted out by technology.

Some 487,363 accounts were taken down over child exploitation between January and June this year. 

And every post removed involving a child was also reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children which shares information with law enforcement agencies globally.

It is the first time Twitter has released figures relating to child sexual exploitation. 

The firm said: 'We will continue to aggressively fight online child sexual abuse.'

The company also admitted that terrorists are still flouting the site's rules with 205,156 accounts promoting extremism removed.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
