«Breaking News» Trump confidant Roger Stone invokes Fifth and REFUSES to testify before Senate committee in private

Longtime Trump advisor Roger Stone is invoking the Fifth Amendment and refusing to hand over documents to the Senate Judiciary Committee, his lawyer wrote the panel.

In a Monday letter to Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, Stone's lawyer, Grant Smith, writes that Stone 'will not produce' documents requested by the top Democrat on the committee.

'Mr. Stone decries secrecy. He will not subject himself to the innuendo of non-public proceedings. Nor will he confirm the existence of, or produce the documents of the request, for the purpose of being used in secret proceedings,' his lawyer writes – summoning an argument former FBI Director James Comey invoked in a failed effort to set the terms of his appearance before the House Intelligence Committee.

'Mr. Stone's invocation of his Fifth Amendment privilege must be understood by all to be the assertion of a Constitutional right by an innocent citizen who denounces secrecy,' according to the letter, which Feinstein sent out via Twitter

His lawyer complained about the nature of the document requests that are part of the panel's ongoing inquiry into Russian election interference.

The letter was sent the same day Trump praised Stone for having the 'guts' for saying he wouldn't testify against Trump under any circumstance.

Stone's lawyer told Mother Jones the timing was a coincidence.

'The requests, as previously stated to staff, are far too overbroad, far too overreaching, far too wide ranging both in their all-embracing list of persons to whom the request could relate with whom Mr. Stone has communicated over the past three years, and the 'documents concerning' imprecision of the requests. For the additional reasons set forth below, Mr. Stone respectfully declines to produce any documents and declines the invitation for an interview.'

Stone has said he expects to indicted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Prosecutors have taken an interest in any contacts he had with WikiLeaks during the presidential campaign, when the site published hacked Democratic emails.

Stone hasn't been charged with a crime. He says he didn't have any advanced knowledge of WikiLeaks' plan to release hacked Democratic emails during the campaign.

Feinstein asked Stone for documents in November 2017. In a letter to Stone, she asked for information about his claimed backchannel to WikiLeaks and other matters.

Republicans run the Senate Judiciary panel, and Feinstein lacks the ability to force Stone to testify.

After January, House Democrats could try to force Stone to appear again. Rep. Adam Schiff of California, who is set to lead the House Intelligence panel, has said he believes Stone may have committed perjury when he testified in the House.

He cited newly revealed emails between Stone and conservative conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi discussing WikiLeaks.

'The mere existence of those emails are inconsistent with his testimony before our committee,' Schiff told ABC's 'This Week.'

'That testimony really needs to be provided to the special counsel for consideration of whether perjury charges are warranted,' he added.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
