«Breaking News» Suspect was gunned down by TWO police officers during Flying Squad raid in leafy London suburb

Two armed officers discharged their weapons during a 'pre-planned' operation in which a robbery suspect was gunned down. 

The police watchdog confirmed that two officers fired one bullet each during the incident in Wimbledon, south west London, on Monday morning.

A 23-year-old man was shot by the Met's Flying Squad who swooped outside a Sainsbury's Local at 8.10am.

The Met referred the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which said it spent much of Monday 'overseeing the collection of forensic evidence'.

The IOPC confirmed two police officers each fired their guns once and the raid was linked to a probe into 'cash in transit van robberies'.

The 23-year-old man who was shot remains in hospital, where he has been quizzed to by the IOPC.

He was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob, the Met said. Another 23-year-old man was also arrested at the scene.

Jonathan Green, IOPC regional director, said: 'My thoughts go to all those affected by this incident, including witnesses who found themselves at the centre of an unfolding police incident while going about their normal daily routine.

Police and forensics teams investigated the scene of a shooting in Wimbledon, south-west London 

'Our team of investigators were at the scene, the post incident procedure and at the hospital yesterday overseeing the collection of forensic evidence ensuring enquiries are carried out thoroughly and independently.

'The forensic search resumed today and we are grateful to the local community for their patience as this painstaking and vital work continues.

'We have met with the man and we will keep him informed as our investigation progresses.'

The IOPC said the shooting happened during a 'pre-planned' police operation by the Met's Serious Crime Directorate.

A statement added: 'So far a knife and a crowbar have been recovered from the scene and the forensic search of the area resumed today.

'We have verified that two Met Police firearms officers each discharged their weapon once.

'The man was taken to hospital, his injuries are not believed to be serious.'   

The operation was being conducted by officers from the Met's anti-robbery Flying Squad and they were assisted by firearms colleagues. 

The Flying Squad's main focus is robbery, and it is known for staging dramatic takedowns of armed robbers as they try to flee the scene of a crime.

In the year to March 2018, there were 12 incidents in which police firearms were discharged out of 18,746 police firearms operations.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
